Hi guys, long time member but first time poster.

Can anyone help shed any light on this issue.
I was joining the motorway when the car refused to go into the turbo, it just wouldn't rev over 2k.
I pulled onto the hard shoulder and switched the car off and on. It was fine after that. 5 mins later revs started to die
but then went back to normal but the engine management light came on. The car drove fine though.

I've had it plugged into my friends Bosch code reader but it just comes up with "No System Found"
The reader finds the chassis number and other data but no faults. The light is still on but the car is driving fine.
Don't really want to take it to Honda dealer in Leicester as I've not been filled with confidence when I've used them before.

My Accord has full service history and has 89k on the clock.

Thanks,

Sam.

Could be a few things...hard to tell without the actual code (odd that it couldn't be read!) - use another reader and find out what the code is that is bringing on the ECU warning light, otherwise it's just guessing.

Was it last serviced by Honda? Did it have the fuel filter replaced with the correct part (Bosch if pre-facelift, Denso if facelift)?

Prior to me owning the car 3 years ago it has full Honda history. Under my ownership it has always been serviced at a Toyota main dealer with genuine Honda parts (I've previously only had toyotas). Fuel filter was replaced with a Bosch one approx 18 months ago and its done 19k since. I'm trying to borrow a code reader so hopefully I can post back a code.

Thanks,

Sam.

Sounds like the fuel filter to me, if you do decide to change it ensure its done with a genuine filter as these cars are very fussy.

However first things first, get the fault code read properly and go from there

If you fancy a drive up the M1, bring it to me i'll take a look and can run a full Honda diagnostic.

Thanks for the generous offer. I'm usually in Bradford a couple of times a month but I don't foresee a trip up north for a while.

I'm taking it to another garage for a diagnostic tomorrow, hopefully i'll be able to post up a code. The car is still driving fine but i'm
taking it easy.

Thanks guys,

Sam.

Keep us updated Sam but as the guys said we are only guessing without the fault codes.

Hi guys,

the codes are in, BC203 boost pressure higher than expected.
P0026 engine control module ECM internal circuit malfunction
B320A Intake manifold runner control IMRC valve incorrect position.

The garage I went to wasn't a Honda specialist so he just cleared the light and told me to use a fuel additive.
When I pressed him for further advice he just said it'd be a big job and to contact him if the light came back on.

Your advice is much appreciated,

Sam.

Hi Sam,
These codes and their explanations are a little confusing, as only P0026 seems to be a valid error code for which I find a different meaning - 'Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit Range/Performance' - http://www.permoveo.ltd.uk/tabid/122/OBD-Error-Code/P0026/Diagnostics/Honda/Default.aspx

Additionally, some of these codes may have been old ones, stored some time ago and not applicable to the current problem. Now they've been cleared, if/when the MIL comes back on you will know that the new stored code(s) are relevant.

Has the light come back on? How is the car running now?

The light has remained off. Car is driving fine.the.codes are posted in the order they showed up on the scan tool. There was no dates or anything.

Thanks.

Sam.

dude you can buy bluetooth code readers for £15, I'd look at one then your not keep paying for the service, then you can get to the bottom of the problem using these guys knowlegde!

BP higher than expected and IMRC incorrect position together are sometimes down to a sticking EGR valve, seen it before.

If you take it to someone with Honda Diagnostic system, they can isolate each component and run some functional tests on it. I love the advice from your mechanic

Yeah, I wish error codes were date/time stamped!

Seeing as how it's running ok, I suggest leaving it and hoping that the problem doesn't reappear. But - if it does - then anyone with an OBD2 code reader can read the error code(s) for you. These readers are quite cheap and widely available, e.g. I bought mine from an eBay seller.

Thanks for all the advice guys. The car is still driving fine.
I think i'm going to order myself a code reader in the coming weeks.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a really good guide on the forum for cleaning the EGR valve so I'll
probably do that in the near future.

Thanks,

Sam.
