Hope you guys can shed some light on my issue, I am going to do a oil change for 2001 Accord 2.0 Vtec,

I have looked on various website some state 5w30 and some state 5w40

Which one do you guys use ? Also Which one is the best one ?

The oil type for all standard petrol Honda engines prior to 2001 was 10w-40, but Honda have now discontinued their 10w40 and now say to use 5w-40. So either should be fine, just stick to a well known brand.

As said 10w-40 or 5w-40 dont use 5-30, its too thin, and on older car better to use thicker oil due to wear. I use 10-40 myself.

I have used 10w40 semi synth in both my Accords and both Preludes (MY 2001, 1987, 1992 and 1986) as that's what the service manuals dictate for the temperature range in the UK, like Andy said.

I run synthetic 5w40 oil - i run on Elf as thats the brand i currently get the Best discount at.
I pay around 5 £ Per liter of synthetic 5w40.

Id always opt for a better than recomended oil - why run a semi synthetic if you Can have a full synthetic at almosshop the same Price?
