Hello All,
I got this error code ‘P0401 EGR insufficient flow’ on my car about 3 weeks ago. I have read on this forum and others that cleaning the EGR valve and air intake (EGR Ports) usually gets rid of the code.
I tried to take off the EGR Valve and could easily see the two 13mm bolts holding it on. However, the wiring loom, injector system and throttle body seemed to be in the way of putting a socket down there to undo the bolts. And I have never worked on the fuel system before, so I did not want to take off the injectors.
I took the car to a garage and they said that they cleaned the EGR Valve, I then deleted the code from the car and the car started to idle really ruff and a few hours later the same code appeared and the cars idling stabilised.
I am wondering if the garage did not clean the erg valves thoroughly enough? Or do I need to clean the egr ports too?
I found this write up on this forum, about cleaning the egr ports, but it is not detailed enough about how to remove the fuel injectors?

Does anybody have any detailed guides about cleaning the egr valve and egr ports? So that I can try it myself
Any other suggestions, from people who have faced this problem in the past would be appreciated?
