Hi Team

I thought I would skip the newbies page and get straight down to business.....

I have read dozens of threads about parking sensors and the eBay vs Honda dealer saga. However my Accord 2.2 i-CDTi 07 EX does not come with them, is there anyway the sensors can be hooked up to the stereo display console?

Thanks in advance, picking up the beauty on Wednesday.

Hooked up in what way? The rear parking sensors are triggered active (and powered) from the rear reverse light, from this power source, the buzzer/beeper emits pulses to indicate how far away the obstacle is. This has nothing to do with the Sat Nav (console).

However, on the EX the Sat Nav can be used to take an composite video input and this can be used in conjunction with a rear parking camera.

BTW - welcome along! :)

Pop up and intro on the Newbies section.

Jayok,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. What I meant by that question is, could the parking sensors be rigged up to the screen within the console to show where the threat of an obstacle is. Most of these new sensors in new cars have a display with left and right threat ***essment. I don't think a Rear camera is quite needed. It's not an arctic trailer!

Welcome to TA. Do you mean a reversing camera? If so, you can go the XCarlink route, although it's fairly costly.

No Steve, I test drove a VRS last year and when it was out in reverse the console displayed a parking aid (see link below)

It wasn't a camera, more of a parking sensor aid. Just wondered if anyone had ever tried putting something like that in a EX?

On the subject of reversing sensors my car came with them but they don't seem to work. The kit that was in our Civic has a display on the dash that tells you far you are from the object but there is nothing like this in the Accord. I take it there is just a buzzer somewhere that goes off when you are close? This is an aftermarket kit BTW.

Do the chirp at all when put into reverse? To test them, put the car in reverse, engine off ignition on. Place you each close to each of the ultrasonic sensors and see if you hear a "clicking". If you do, then the sensor is working, if not, the sensor is broke.

TBH, they are so cheap to replace, I normally just replace them. I get them here:

@OP - from above you can get the distance reporting display here (though not for the Sat Nav)

Thanks I will try that :)

I'll have to trace the wires and see where the control box is. I don't even have a display so I think it may have been removed unless they've hidden it somewhere when it was fitted.
