Guys,

Can anyone recommend me some tyres? between £60-80, quiet ones. Doesn't need to be a big brand just something average.

Same with the Front brake discs, has anyone heard of the make "pagid"
I've had a look at different discs e.g. Brembo, EBC etc not quite sure which ones I need to be honest, just a simple pair of front discs.

Look for some part worns on eBay, I would personally go for Bridgestone, Pirelli, Michelin or continental.

Nexen N6000. A great tyre for the money. handled as well as my old Pirelli P6000s and actually quieter. made by Michelin so they are not junk.

Falken FK452s are great tyres, although they're extra load so can generate a bit of rumble - depends on your wheel size.

Pagid are a well known brand that cover everything from regular production brakes up to racing performance stuff, much like most manufacturers. If you're not running major mods it might be easiest just to stick with OEM ones.

In my experiance P6000's where dangerous 'ditch finders' of a tyre. will never touch the P range again.

There are pleantly of tyres out there for your price range.
Im currently running ZE912's on my 16's (which i presume you have).
camskill are currently offering 205/55R16 91V TL
for £48.25 per tyre.

or FK452's which loads of people run on here for £53.95 per tyre: Here

or Toyo T1R for £57 per tyreHere.

Yes you will need them fitted. but most places will do fitting for £12 a tyre :) so factor that in
the ZE912 = £60 per tyre
FK451 = £66 per tyre
Toyo T1R = £69 per tyre.

All within your price range and they are all good tyres :)

Plus one for falkerns

Neuton Tyres. Sold by a Saab specialist and used by alot of Saab owners pushing some decent BHP. I've got them on the Accord and do rate them. They are a very long way off being ditchfinders. I'd say they are on par with the Falken I also had on the Accord.

Cheap to buy but not cheap as tyres.

FK452's or Kumho Ecsta range

how many miles have you put on them nick ? i was looking at these to replace the ultrac sessantas on my summer wheels next year.
how do they wear ?

Fahad originally put me onto Falken 452's when I could not get hold of Toyo T1Rs and I have been fitting them ever since. Great all weather grip. On the front they usually last about 18k, but I do replace my tyres at 3mm for safety. Did somebody mention P6000s!! Had them on my car when I bought it, the worst wet weather grip ever. They were so bad I replaced the rear pair when they still had 6mm tread left. The Falkens can be a little noisy on a rough surface compared to some, but overall a great tyre at a good price.

I haven't put alot on, they were only fitted about 3 weeks ago and they are on the back. I had them on my Saab and although I can't remember the exact miles I wasn't disappointed with the wear rate.

Will be having an experiment when the snow comes and see which are better on the fronts, the Falkens that are currently on or the near new Neutons.

The tyres also have 'rim protection' which means they stick out beyond the alloy which is good when feeling along the curb as the alloys are protected.

steer clear of P6000's, only good in playgrounds
Running falkens at the moment, they are suprisingly not bad in terms of wear/noise/handling but nothing to rave about.

Out of the three 'good' tyres Adam posted I would recommend the Ze912 for wear/noise and Toyo's just the better tyre but wear is higher.

Get any blank discs from a local motor factor or dealer but choose a quality pad honda or other.

Thanks a lot for your input guys,

Please excuse my ignorance but do certain alloys have to go on certain tyres or it doesnt matter? I have 17" pentas at the moment so all the tyres mentioned in the posts should be okay for the alloys?

Yes just make sure the tyre size is correct, 225/45/17 for that rim.

I have a pair of nearly new KUMHO ECSTA 225/45 R17 91W that would be suitable for a saloon. See For Sale section.

I am put pagid front brake discs

I believe for my car for the front discs the diameter is 300mm (2.2 ctdi) please correct me if I need the 280mm ones
The pagid front discs cost £70 including 25% discount?? Is that cheap or expensive?

lol, I have p6000s on my fronts (you have to be careful not to knock over any toddlers in the playground)

Any recommendations for low road noise ? with adequate grip (wet and dry)

thanks
Umair

Zed if you have a 2.2 on 17" rims then you need a 94W rated tyre. just to put a spanner in there.. hope you find some.

Thanks for the info guys,

@Jason- I noticed you have mentioned 94W rated tyre, is there much difference between the 94W and the 91 tyre?

I recommend Falken ZE912 nice grip on dry and wet. and pretty quiet and rides nicely. i have these on my summer enkeis. i also have Falken 452, but they are alot noiser than the 912 and not as good grip in the wet, only thing better is in the dry.

Overall 912 is the more suited tyre for mixed weather and comfort in my own experience.

if it comes to brake pads I had EBC ultimax good pads imo not much dust good breaking,

For what its worth I recently fitted GT Champiro HPX 225/45/17 94W rating - a budget tyre but I've been impressed so far, good wet and dry grip, a fine quiete ride and much reduced tramlining. They replaced Continental Contact Sport 3 and a slightly sharper steering response is about all I've missed.
