I've recently visited Fahad and got a stage one map with EGR delete which I'm very happy with. Unfortunately my clutch isn't so happy and I noticed it slipping for the first time today under hard acceleration.

Under normal driving conditions like up to 2/3 or 3/4 throttle even around peak torque it is fine. But, it is undoubtedly slipping by a few hundred rpm, mostly in third and fourth when using full throttle. The biting point was fairly high beforehand so I guess it was nearing the end of its useful life anyway - a little disappointing considering it has only done just over 50,000 miles. This will be the first clutch i've ever had to replace even though I've owned a number or petrol and diesel turbo charged cars.

At least the DMF seems fine at the moment!

I'm not too keen on being ripped off by a main dealer and I have a trusted independent garage just down the road from me. So the question is, what clutch should I go for?

Is it worth going for a like for like replacement or am I going to be sorely disappointed 20,000 miles later when I have to replace it again?

I understand some people have gone for a CG motorsport clutch and DMF however Leeds is a little far for me to travel unless there are exceptional circumstances. What other clutches do pepole recommend for remapped I-cdti's?

Ah bugger, sorry to hear this mate! I would see how long it holds out before splashing on a new clutch..

Buy a genuine honda clutch kit from Holdcroft Honda. They are very reasonable and then get a decent independent to fit it
 
Fahad, I agree there's no immediate need to get a new clutch. I'll keep an eye on it and see how quickly it continues to wear.

Is there a big difference between going to holdcroft for a kit or getting the luk kit? I was under the impression luk manufactured the clutches anyway.

Unless of course the genuine Honda kits have been updated at some point...
 
I keep a close eye on CG Motorsport threads on the Civinfo website (they run a sub-forum there). Personally I don't think I'd want a CG clutch unless I had a really heavily-tuned engine, as they don't seem to last very long and judder is a problem. One guy with a 250bhp/450lb.ft. monster (tuned by Elite) is on his 4th CG clutch now.

I also understood that LUK supplied all clutch and DMF components to Honda. However it is confusing that ECP appear at times to supply a selection of LUK clutches for the Accord. I'd want to be sure I was getting the OEM version... that £125 one seems a bit too cheap!
 
I recently replaced my clutch - diesel Tourer with 165k on the clock. I had it done at Westgate Honda in Grimsby. £650 inclusive. Apparently it's part of Honda UK's Honda happiness scheme, and £650 is the price from all Honda dealers.
 
When I had a stage 1 map put on my accord a few years ago the clutch would occasionally slip. There are plenty of threads on here about how slow the clutch can be to adjust. Wehn I sold it I advised that the clutch was slipping (so sold it for less) but when the guy test drove it it refused to slip!


I would wait it out if I were you.

I've been keeping an eye on it for the last month and it only seems to do it occasionally. I'm going to leave it until it becomes a more regular occurrence.

Who knows, the clutch may yet outlive some other big ticket item which would put the car beyond economical repair!
