Accord Tourer Diesel
Hi to all,

Newbie to the forum.

I've recently bought a 2007 diesel estate tourer - it's an ex Arval car with 115,000 on the clock. Overall it's in nice condition inside and out and, like a lot of these ex lease cars, has a comprehensive Honda service history.

What I am really surprised by is that I have found rust in more than one place! Quite bad bubbling round the nearside rear wheel arch lip (nothing on the offside) / a small part 5p size on the nearside front wing / and also on and around the area of the bonnet catch.

I know we've had some hard winters in the last few years but I am really surprised by this.

Do you think I have any recourse against Honda? Anybody else suffer these problems ?

Thanks
Will

Welcome Will I'm very surprised at you having rust on a 07 plate.
You say you have a full Honda service history then why haven't they noticed this as its part of all there services.
Also there is a good warranty of 7 years if I recall for body work corrosion so get this checked out before you spend any money.By the way stone chips are not coverd by the warranty.

Hi there

I agree with you - I was amazed when I saw it. I have all the paperwork from the last service and they have ticked the 'corrosion check' box !

Being the second owner do you think I would have recourse against Honda to rectify this?

I know it's done a few miles but car only registered on April '07 :(

If it were me I would take the car back to the dealers that last signed of the box for corrosion.
See what they say if no luck give Honda UK a call and be very polite to them and explain the situation.

I would do but that dealer is up in Newcastle and I am near Chester.

I will give Honda UK a call and let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Will

Good man Honda UK are very helpful and because you have a dealer full service history this will go in your favour.
Keep up up to date as this is a very interesting thread.

I'm thinking accident damage repair?

You might have a point Nick as iv not come across this as a rule.

I have never heard of rust on 7th gen. my 03 is completely rust free.

the accord is galvanized as well so you would be doing well to get rust.

defo cal Honda UK a call and as long as all the corrosion checks have been done I wouldn't have thought you will have any problem getting the rust rectified.

Hi

Thanks for replies.

I suspect they Honda dealer would try and blame stone chip damage for the nearside rear bumper lip - but the small area on the front wing is an odd place for stone chip damage and the rust around the bonnet latch is strange too.

I will take a couple of photos if it's dry tomorrow and post them on here for interest.

I will try and speak to Honda UK tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

cheers

Will
