sat nav only works in the morning

My sat nav is really starting to irritate me now.

I went and got it a new disk and now it has gone back to the stage that it reads disks that a re cold but if you stop somewhere and then for the rest of the day its stuck at the warning screen.

What would I give to make this thing run on a memory card!

I've had the same thought. The Disk drive is DVD drive in a case of some sort. I reckon, you could create an image of the disk and put it on a hard drive. Then take out the DVD drive, remove it from the box and put the hard drive in there in its place. I imagine it's IDE based connection inside and so as long as you've got an old IDE hard drive kicking about, you're good to go. However, this is all just guessing as I've never taken mine out and looked in this regard.

ok so I went out to grab lunch and its still working. maybe its happy again?

have you tired cleaning the dvd drive itself?
Might be worth a go.
