My car stalls every now and then these days and the clutch pedal position is really high before the gear would engage and car would move. Is this a sign of clutch slip and would I need to change it soon? Sorry I don't know much about cars hence asking this question.
My car is 2007 model CTDi and its done 92k miles.

I would get the brake / clutch fluid changed first as it sounds like it either has water ingress and not operating the clutch properly or either the master or slave cylinder isn't working correctly.

A slipping clutch is found if you put your foot down in 3rd or 4th and the revs rise before the car gains momentum

My cars just started to rev by itself in 2nd, 3rd and 4th when putting my foot down.
How long before i need to change its on 97k

That's one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions! Many people would suggest you need to change it immediately... if it keeps slipping as you describe, then you are risking damage to the dual mass flywheel (which is expensive to replace). To be blunt, it sounds pretty bad already so I reckon you need to get it done ASAP.

Shaz this don't sound like the normal slipping clutch or the pressure plate to be precise. This sounds like the normal wear on a clutch with this kind of mileage.
If you get the signs of a slip then change it if not leave it imo.
And Mohammid i would say mate its time for a new clutch.Thankfully you haven't got the same problems as the diesel boys with a DMF ;)

The clutch is slipping on my diesel tourer not atr so whats this dmf problem

Sorry then I would get it sorted mate.
The DMF will probably be fine but it will be checked when the new clutch is installed.
If its in spec your fine but if not I'm afraid it's a new one.
But in most cases there fine tbo

Wheres the best place for a clutch seen a luk one on euro carparts.
Also after this could go for the stage 2 remap lol

If the clutch is anything like the stage 1 exedy in my atr then i think i'll leave it. Can't have two cars that are undriveable in traffic! Lol

My clutch has been doing the slipping if I boot it in 3/4th for over 50K miles now, hasn't got any worse in that time. I can still accelerate pretty well, just not full throttle.

it is of course your choice, I'm just saying it may not be that necessary to do it right now. I'll be honest and say I didn't do mine when it first started as I didn't have a spare 700 quid lying around so I made do, 50K miles later I'm glad I'm still making do....

The only thing with that is you'd have to change both clutch and flywheel now right?
I'm hoping if i change the clutch now the flywheel could be ok.

I'm sure you can just change the clutch as monks done this on his accord

Thanks chaps, glad to hear its not clutch. I'll get the clutch/brake fluid checked and changed if needed. :)

Is a luk clutch ok then as i'm off to buy one now?
It might be, but depends how you're going to be driving it, and how much re-mapping you're going to have done (you mentioned a Stage 2 above)... LUK would be the same as a standard Honda, but you could do better.

Whoever fits the new clutch will check the condition of the DMF when they have removed the clutch asembly. This involves both checking the free play in the mechanism plus the condition of the surface that the clutch drives against.

Im gonna leave the car on the stage 1 remap now so hopefully luk will be ok
Thanks for your help

Cars at garage and it turns out the flywheel is pretty worn, does anyone know of a good place to get this?

Give Cg clutches in Leeds a ring.

If u have a slightly harder clutch pedal.. You'll just need to drink some concrete and harden up.

I know that the .cg clutch is much tougher etc but when I was looking at getting one to go with my stage 2 map, I got lucky and managed to drive a civic with one (same engine etc). Whilst it is by no means as bad as the one paddle clutch I've had before, it is pretty grabby and there is noticeable Judder when you pull away. Tbh for a car with less than 250 plus bhp it removed far too much drivability for me to consider. That's obv just my opinion but try before you buy!!

No clutch is stiffer than the stage 1 exedy in my car, trust me lol

Haha ok.. Its sorta something you kinda get used to. When I get in a normal car I nearly push the car through the floor.

If you want to put power through your car you sometimes need to make compromises.

God knows but the pedal i'm told by others is ultra stiff. I can't tell cos i'm used to it, the clutch pedal movement is really short and stalling is a common thing to those who drive my car lol

I know CG Motorsport have recently introduced an 8 paddle design. I've not driven one yet but I reckon it will be a bit better than the 6 in this respect..
