Something I have been noticing lately is that under hard accelerating, there is a slight drop in the engine tone, married with a couple of hundred RPM's falling off around the 2000 mark. It is momentary, and doesn't seem to affect the overall drive.

It is also very subtle - I sometimes don't notice it. Pretty sure it is not clutch related as it would be going the other way with the revs. I am wondering if it is the IMRC doo dah that we have been hearing so much about?

No idea mate but if you're coming up tomorrow let's go for a run and see if we can spot it.

cheers bud - it could easily be a figment of my imagination - or even just the revs not rising as expected (rather than a drop) if you know what I mean?

Hi

I know this is an old thread but this is currently happening on my vehicle (but whenever the revs go over 3k, except in neutral) and my honda warranty is due to expire in 2 weeks! Did you find any conclusion to this problem? I should also mention that the car has just had a level 4 service from trident Honda in which I found slightly too much oil (about 1 cm over the max mark) it was then drained of the excess oil but about 50 miles later.

Cheers

my was doing it but i sparyed some electrical contact spray into the throttle pedal position sensor and it has been fine since.

V, if your warranty is due to expire, get it to Honda asap. It might be that contact spray will fix it but don't wait for the warranty to.run out to find its something more costly. In any case, be sure to report back!

Cheers for replying guys, I did indeed get back in touch with the garage straight away and I have booked it in, in 2 weeks time. Noticed the issue a day before I went on holiday, typical

I have just got back from the Honda dealers and they have said that the clutch is most likely the problem. The way they tested it was that they took the car up to about 60 mph in 5th gear and from there the revs would rise and then suddenly drop, they therefore came to the conclusion that the clutch is most likely slipping. They have said that they can't confirm this is definitely the issue but is most likely the problem. They recommended I get a diagnostic done to make 100% certain but this is where they said it would cost approx £400 to make sure it was the clutch and £850 for a new clutch fully fitted, which is crazy money that I don't intend to spend. Also the Honda warranty does not cover it as it comes under wear and tear.

Is their any way I can confirm it is the clutch without having to fork out £400 on a diagnostic? I should mention the car has had a stage 1 done from Fahad about 6 months ago and it only has about 48.6k miles on the clock.

Cheers
