when left overnight the wife car turns over very slowy, if left for 2-3 days the battery will fail to start the car, the battery appears to charge ok but im guessing the battery is on its way out? should also mention its been like that for a good while and has'nt got worse.

does the gen.6 auto take more cranking power than a normal car to crank the engine?

Have you checked your alternator for charging voltage?

Otherwise dead battery.

can i just put my meter on the battery with the engine running?

As Dan said what kind of meter is it.Also if you do a search there are threads about what voltage you should have with a good battery and alternator

a multimeter so i can read the volts

i know my ST kicks out about 14.5v so im guessing it'd be around that.

Pretty much matey.... :D

so if it does put out that then its the battery, unless something is drawing major ampswhen the engine is off?

to be honest it most likely to be the battery how old is it

Sounds like a battery, and if it's that old just have it changed anyway. Otherwise could be anything from starter motor to ignition components but my money is on battery as it's not holding charge.
