B) B) Hi guys
I have tried to maintain my cars in immaculate condition for around 40 years but never used snow foam. Can anyone advise on the advantages or disadvantages of using this type of product.
Also does it pose any problems with regards to getting rid of the excess foam?
 
Hi Mike, I was told by a detailer that SF will remove 70-80% of traffic film and other dirty without 'touching' the car. As I see it the less you have to actually touch the car the better.
It just rinses off easily...

Not read any disadvantages but happy to be corrected....

Thanks for this, I use traditional methods of car washing (decent shampoo, jet wash and wash leather finished off with a microfibre cloth). Because i use (very regular) good quality waxes the car cleans up a treat and water beads up really well for several weeks but as you say the least physical contact the better. I thought that the SF would be the next step in keeping the car up to my standards.On the wheels I use a non acidic traffic film remover which I get from a firm called clean machine. This is very good but I still have to use some physical means of removing brake dust from around the hub and in difficult to get to places. I wondered if SF would penetrate such areas.
I also wonder why pressure washer manufacturers do not make a lance which has an end which would clean at 90 degrees to the lance ie behind the spokes.

No disadvantages mate, if you love your car you really should be using it. I've only been converted to it this year and now I wonder how I ever lived without it!

Let's put it this way, I've had my new car 3 weeks tomorrow... it's done 2500 miles and is filthy! I haven't taken it to a car wash because I want to do it myself at home... just waiting for the weather to improve enough. A job for Xmas Day I think ;)

Does it remove the coats of wax that i have applied,as this is something that I dont want to do
Is there a range of products or are they all the same? Any preferences on manufacturer?

Depends on the foam you're using and level of acidity I suppose mate. But even shampoo will take the wax off, no wax lasts forever.
 
If you get a ph neutral foam it shouldn't touch your wax!! My wax lasts months even with 1 or 2 snow foam washes a week. The milder foams probably wont do a great deal for brake dust unless the wheels are waxed or sealed as the dust seems to cling pretty well. Use the foam everywhere starting from the bottom up wheel arches and all as it will cling to the car better this way and stay on the car longer :)
 
Well guys, I think I am convinced that sf is a good thing and I will start looking at getting an applicator and research an appropriate sf.
