ABS, VSA and the other yellow light (triangle) - all 3 in one row came on.

I just had a front driver side abs sensor replaced. That solved the abs light problem. But the other two lights are still lit. When I start the engine the triangle light stays on. Then after few minutes VSA light comes on.

What can I do? What is the problem? Can I diagnose it further myself?

Thanks

It sounds like the new sensor hasn't cured the problem. You need to have the code read first, it's also possible the new sensor needs to be calibrated.

Interesting stuff, is calibrating the new sensor something that happens automatically?

New abs sensor solved the abs problem...

Also, is it possible to do a self diagnostics in this car?
I've got a generic obd reader and it's not reading anything else than the engine.
Also, in my 1994 and 2000 accords it was possible to short some pins on a diagnostic connector and the light on the dashboard was flashing the trouble code. Is it possible on this model?

I have been looking online for how to do self diagnostics and I haven't found anything easy to follow or official.
Here is a generic post : http://hondatuning.org/how-to-read-diagnostic-trouble-codes-dtcs-without-an-obdii-scan-tool/

Thanks

Not sure on self test procedure for the 7th gen Accord, it was possible on the 6th gen.

The ABS/VSA module can't always be interrogated by generic code readers. You either need to take it to Honda or get someone (like CJ) with a Honda HDS system to diagnose it. HDS can also calibrate the sensors.

as fahad said you need to get the code to take out the gess work really

All right so which one of you kind gents would like to help me out with your Honda HDS system and diagnose my VSA failure and perhaps even sort it out?
I'm based in Canary Wharf, London. Should I approach you on priv? I'm open to all options I think...

BTW
I'm going to try to perform self diagnostics.
I found couple of posts on a Polish forum - if anyone interested : Polish forum post - google translation to English

pin number 4 is ground and pin no 9 is manufacturer reserved in terms of obd-2 standard

I think CJ i(Pepster) s the only one with HDS (that I know). He lives West Yorkshire though so unless he happens to be passing doubt he'll be able to help (hope I'm not talking out of turn CJ).

Chiswick and Ruislip Honda appear to be fairly reputable as far as Dealers go, and I ***ume they would have the HDS.

Depends how urgent the solution is - not sure if CJ would bring it to the Trafford meet?

I know I wouldn't mind plugging in to see if there are any hidden nasties - I don't fully trust my dealer just yet.

I made self diagnostics and uploaded the video to youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKcwkWsHk98

The DTC code is 84 : VSA Pressures Sensor Neutral Position.
Service manual says I need to clear the DTC - need the Honda PGM Tester of HDS (A) tool to do that.
Then need to do the VSA pressure sensor neutral position memorization - again, simple procedure in the manual.

3 lights indicates a sensor but a permanent single or trianle + VSA normally means goosed modulator from what I can tell.

If you can't get to CJ, take it down to Maj Motors, 101 Legrams Lane, BD7 2AA.

He'll be able to use his Snap On to diagnose and if you mention that I sent you from the Accord forum he shouldn't charge more than £15 or £20 quid. At least that way you'll know which sensor it is.

My experience is as follows:

VSA Light and Yellow triangle (top right of instrument pod) light up together and a few seconds later warning sound and VSA alert is illuminated where mileage would be.

My code reader is able to detect all of the Honda ECU's and it reports 66 - 1 VSA Module something like pressure sensor failure.

Spoke to Honda service manager and he has booked car in Friday to change the VSA module.

If you are in London and need a code read drop me a PM

Right guys,

Just started the car and the lights have gone. Could be an intermittant fault?

CJ - cheers mate pm sent

I just sorted the same issue on my CL9, though its not a diseasle....
all 3 lights on, occasionally go out only to come on again within 10 miles.
Without doing a fault code check, I went "old school" and compared resistances across all 4 sensors.
IIRC the reading should be around 700mOhms (please correct me if thats wrong - my meter isnt particularly clear!) anything under this may be an issue. They are usually clear cut - the one on my car was sitting at 380 - 400, so I took a punt and fitted a new one. These warnings now go out when the ignition lights come up, engine off.

Cheers Steve - Handy numbers to have!

Thanks all,

I took my front wheels off last night to have a look and noticed that the sensors appeared relativley newish compares to the other stuff like brake pipes etc.

I pushed everything back in and generally brushed off dust and made sure there was no loose connections.

This morning I've driven 25 miles to work and expected the lights to come on but no nothing.

I suspect the lights will come back on again.

Have faith dear boy :D

I've been to Hepworth Honda and they've done a free diagostic for me and said its the rear os abs sensor.

That was the code on the ecu but so far touch wood no abs light. I've booked in for Mot, hope the light doesnt come on till it gets through.

CJ- many thanks mate for your kind offer. Its good to know there is a local specialist around i can call upon

Just found this old thread and thought I'd ad details of my current woes.

Had the VSA/ABS light issue a while ago, which was diagnosed as a faulty ABS sensor. Sensor replaced and ABS light extinguished. However, I then have the orange /!\ triangle constantly on and the VSA warning 'bings' on after a short while when driving off. I've been ignoring this for a while.

So yesterday I discover I've been driving around with no MOT! I have now booked a test for tomorrow, but is the VSA light going to cause it to fail (there is no ABS light lit)?

Had a local independent run a diagnostic this morning and cleared the codes, but the /!\ stays on and the VSA 'bings' on again after a short drive. Two things flagged up on his diagnostic computer - 'Sensor Logic Failed' (or similar) and something about the Brake Pressure Sensor (possible the same issue). I really hope this isn't a failed VSA module. With a car worth about £4k a bill of almost half that is going to be most unwelcome!

Any ideas/advice/etc? I need my car daily. A failed overdue MOT will be a complete PITA. Currently feeling rather disillusioned with the so-called 'bombproof' reliability of the Honda Accord.

Just to ad to my post above - the lights are now extinguished. Hooked up to a different diagnostic computed it was apparent that a sensor needed calibrating. With this done all seems well.
