basically, it started with the cruise control light blinking randomly ,got worse to a stage that all of the speedo lights blinked randomly, with the engine running or not (ignition on ), its not like there is a pattern just random blinks/flashes ever so often,,, after work, started the car and all the needles , speedo, rev, temp and fuel were not working just sitting on 0,,,, , so i changed the speedo cluster and the lights still blinking and temp/fuel gauges are not working already, i had the alternator checked and a diagnostics computer connected with inconclusive results, all fuses checked , may someone advise me were to look next ? i think a short somewhere may cause such things, but were do i start to look ?

Just before these problems began, did you do any work on the car?

Sounds like a bad connection... possibly an earth, as so many apparently different circuits are being affected. But I wouldn't know where to suggest.

Could also be the onset of a knackered alternator

Thanks for the swift input.. tje alternator was checked I even disconnected it and the problem still exsits..would installing an aftermarket stereo cause any issues ?

...would installing an aftermarket stereo cause any issues ?
Indirectly it might, if the car wiring loom was damaged or connectors were disturbed during the installation of the new stereo. Did the problems start around the time that the new stereo was fitted?

Have a look hear

Thanks for your input... im waiting for a recomended auto electrician to become available.. im giving up on trying to sort this out my self.. electronics not my strong point...dont even know what my strong point is actually :D anyway thanks for the help

Why not remove the stereo and revert all the wiring back to standard and see it it resolves it.

These cars do run a multiplexed wiring system so single cables are carrying multiple signals and its possible this is where the issue is.

I have done that
Thats the first thing I did. I even removed the hid kit. I hope this auto electrician is as good as I hear..

update on my issue,,, so this electrition took my speedo and apparently all the software or memory of the speedo was deleted somehow,,, he managed to upload another that got the speedo fixed however the problem is still there, i had disconnected the alternator so that rules that out,,, does a cl9 have a body control module or is it all relays ? oh, and were can i find a service manual or electrical troubleshooting manual online ?

I would still try battery/alternator mate, I had a similar thing happen to me, changed both and voila :)! Not saying
It is definitely that but that's what was wrong with mine.
Oh I also have hids and a huge stereo with a huge amp

Good luck
