Hi all, its timre to change my 04 2.2 diesel for a 06 (financial constraints)
I was wondering what the differences are between the two varients and
Whether the same "faults" apply from the 04/05 models?

I think the 06 has a 6 speed box, do they suffer the manifold/aux drive belt/throttle position sensor/
Clutch and timing chain issues?

Thanks in advance

6 speed box, revised exterior styling, some interior changes including a better instrument cluster with trip computer, better satnav with voice activation, some Engine changes including revised timing chain and egr valve..

They still suffer cracked manifold and knackered egr valves. Timing chain problems are less common. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade, just for the 6th gear

thanks F6HAD, so the 06 is a positive improvement.
i believe you have a blanking plate for the EGR?
Im in Ireland, just wondering
is there a DIY fix for this?

Yes I can offer a remote service and you just need to buy a blanking plate, available off eBay

Buy the car and get in touch for details

Have a read here. It details all the differences.

Definitely a worth while upgrade. Get the EX model as you get:
Heated seats
Headlight washers
Leather seats
Electric moving seats
Sat nav and touch screen

Other issues you get is the dreaded VSA (vehicle stability ***ist) module can fail. Quite a well known issue
Due to bosch messing up with early units and having faulty pressure sensors i think.

Also
- usual rear caliper seizing
- HFT Bluetooth units are known to fail - usual symptoms - fails to connect to phone or connection drop out.
Also HFT units can cause the battery to flat as when they fail it continue to draw current when ignition is ff.
- Sat NAV dvd drives can fail (lasers fail) usually due to using copied discs
- Alternators bearing fail - due to not updating the aux belt routing (same for both pre and face light i think)

Hope it helps. The link is interesting reading :)

I think the facelift has the revised aux belt routing.

Thanks for the added info Alex!
that link and the docs included are great.
I have been doing some searching online
for 06/07 accords here, from what I can
deduce from searching is that the 06 "Irish"
models have a 5 speed box but the 07 has the
6 speed one. everything else, Interior, Instruments
and facelift exterior are correct. VERY ANNOYING.

What I am trying to get is a 2.2 Tourer and there is just not
that many for sale online. The tourer market is just not
that strong here in Ireland.

I had the same problem, had to go to the UK to get a decent Mk7 Tourer, I wanted an 08 Mk7 and they are thin on the ground even in the UK.
06 was the changeover year for PFL/FL so in markets that had a lot of turnover like the UK, the 06 probably had FL as well as PFL. In Ireland the importer probably had a set amount and just sold what they had until the stocks were cleared and the FL cam onstream.

nice one Huan, yes was looking at the UK also.might
have to look harder there [UK] as the budget
wont allow for a 08 and I would also like to include
a trip to "Premier Tuning" before returning home :)

BTW are you on the emissions based tax or CC?

I am actually considering moving to a different brand !
forced to move really which I dont really want to do as my current accord is my 4th Honda.

I got the emissions based tax, 390pa which helps.
You could look for a different brand but there aren't many big estates that are reliable and as economical while being decent to drive.
I had a shortlist of Mondeo Mk4 and Volvo V70 D5 but the Volvo tax is a killer and the Mondeo seems to give a lot of problems with electrics and silly faults.
The large family estate is a dying breed, its either a mickeywagon or a crossover and I don't like either of them.

By all means combine it with a trip to me..

Your welcome, glad it helped.
Good luck with your decision.
Keep it a Honda though - only my opinion - :)

1389 was the extortion.
6000k OMSP on an 08 plate, I think 07 and 06 would be a lot less.

The gaps between gears are a lot smaller this means its easy to find the right gear without one being too low and the next too high.
Not sure if 6th is any different to the old 5th but I am at 2000rpm@ 70mph

i think thats about 500 rpm less

They have decent torque these engines, I had mine into 3 figures today on a private road....
they really are very smooth and have a broad torque band for a diesel.
