Starter Motor

Hi all,

Anybody know where the starter motor is and how difficult it is to replace on the 8th Gen.

Went to Blackpool for a few days and when we were ready to drive back, the car just made a winning noise when trying to start up
(not the silent or clicking noise you get). I did jump start with the help of a few passers by which was good.

I am under the ***umption it is the starter motor that is the issue after reading up on the problem.

I am located in Bradford and I am only aware or Autoelectro that usually do a good reconditioned starter
Any other places that anyone can recommend for the members located nearby ?

Your help would be greatly appreciated

I'd get the battery tested first to check if its healthy. Think a lot of garages do that for free, including Halfords.

What engine have you got, petrol or diesel?

The battery is brand new, only about 5 months old.

Is is a 2.0 Petrol engine

Hi Peter - we can have the starter rebuilt. Get in touch with Maj Motors on Legrams Lane, tell him Fahad sent you.

Thanks Fahad, I will keep that in mind.

At the moment it is starting fine, I think i will leave it for the time being and see how it goes.
If it happens again, I will defo get it changed
