Hello everyone I own a Honda accord 2.4 type s 2003. This car was recently a victim of the floods in the north west and caused for the car to be submerged from the front on boxing day. As the car has so much sentemental value the insurance wasn't getting their hands on it. After replacing the ecu and immobiliser the car works and the restoration process begins. The one part I'm having difficulty with is the stereo. I have replaced it from the standard one disk stereo to the 6 disk changer stereo and replaced the two front speakers and no more. However the sound is faint and even on the highest on 40 it is low and not loud at all I would like to know if anyone at all can help me out as to determine what the issue is here thank you

I'm pretty sure there's a recent post about upgrading the stereos. I'm fairly certain it can't be done although that maybe just the nav unit(which requires massive amounts of hassle). cars with the premium sound stereo have six speakers not four with the extras fitted in the back doors. I've got the standard unit with an empty space behind the speaker grilles in the back doors. The premium sound also has a small amp installed in the boot cavity I believe. If it has premium sound written on the stereo then perhaps the lack of an amp or correct speaker connections could be the issue.
Alternatively there could also be some other damage to the electrical system or speaker wiring from the flooding. I would try getting a multimeter on the cabling before mucking about swapping stuff.

Thank you so much the speakers alone have been replaced as well as the stereo but now I see that the issue is in fact the amp it's just finding it haha. Thank you for helping me and I will inform this post when or if the problem is solved

Could I ask if or not the standerd one disk stereo has an amp somewhere on the car or do I need an amp for the new 6 disk changers premium sound system for it to work properly ?

The amp is located in the centre console under the ashtray, held in with 10mm bolts. I suspect the premium sound headunit is outputting for an amp which is why the sound is faint.

I do apologise however I thought by putting the question in different forums it opens up a wider variety of answers as I'm sure you can understand my distress of such circumstances. This is just one of the two issues that cause for the car to be disadvantaged so I needed answers quickly so the car can be back to its original state freddofrog. F6had thank you for your response I think this also could be the issue at hand as the stereo may need an amplifier in order for the sound to be distributed at the same volume and quality. I have cancelled out the speakers being the problem as in the drying stage of my car upon the speakers drying I have removed them from the car and replaced them. However out of interest I hooked them to my home hifi system using speaker wire and they work perfectly with bass and the volume which was suprising. It only can be now the stereo I bought or the wiring however if it was the wiring then no sound at all would come out which leads me to think the 6 disk changer is the issue or requires an amp to deliver the sound perfectly. Again I apologise for spamming the same question in the different forums this car means a lot and I want it to be right so any resolution is a good one despite the number of times I put it out there.

TypeAccord is one forum, spamming the same question in various places in one forum is totally unnecessary.
I was on the forum when you placed the question originally but I didn't know the answer and I knew that other people who knew the answer would be on the forum later. When I noticed that you then spammed it I was tempted to report it to moderators. Although your car has been through the mill a bit, it is no different to anyone else who needs ***istance on any forum, spamming is not good practice, you just have to be patient.

Yeah well all I can do is apologise. To everyone that offered advice on the topic of the problem I will inform if the issue is fixed thank you

It's water under the bridge now, and don't really want to put people off joining the forum.

You've done well replacing the ECU and immobiliser, how high did the water get in the car ?

My car (exec) came with the 6-CD system built-in, and I wasn't aware that the Type-S only had a single-CD all-in-one system, but going by the post in the other thread, you'll need to source the wiring loom as well as the amp.

Haha. It went over the bonnet just below the roof and filled the spare wheel section in the boot due to it being parked on the hill. I would like to know if a separate amplifier is needed for the 6 disk changer or is it built in like the one disk stereo

this is the circuit diagram for the 'premium sound system' in the 2.4 exec, looks as if all the speakers are connected to a separate amp

the speakers are in this parts list & diagram, amp is item 9

edit:
note that the above two links are for my car, the 2.4 exec

for comparison, below is the 2.4 Type S

head unit is item 9 in this parts list & diagram (note that the price is a lot less than head unit in link above)

the speakers are in this parts list & diagram, amp is item 8 in the diagram but absent in the list (which usually means it's not fitted in that version of car)

I think that it was also possible for the Type S to come with the 'premium sound system' factory fitted, but those last two links are for the Type S without 'premium sound system'
