53 plate Accord
Just got my 53 plate petrol accord and the clutch pedal is stiff and creaks. I've read about the grease trick with a syringe but looking at it the bracket that holds the pedal seems to be twisting slightly when it's depressed. I can't see any cracks or wear on the bracket, is it supposed to twist at all?

Welcome to the forum. I wouldn't have thought the pedal bracket should be flexing mate, that's not cricket!

Welcome along!

It does twist very slightly but only on a sideways force, straight-down and it's pretty solid. The extra stiffness could be related to the need for grease! What I suggest is that you flush the clutch fluid and grease the slave push-pin head. It's probably never been done since 2003! :)

If it's still stiff then it could be the is stiff on the output shaft, but that's a whole bigger issue to address.

The fluid was just flushed through and it's had a new clutch just last year. I'll be greasing it up later to see if it helps. The bite point is right at the bottom though, no slipping or problems changing gear, just a bit of a pain

I would say it's another job for the old Molykote grease. Make sure you get the right stuff,

Mine was really stiff and creaky (oh err missus) but this stuff really works a treat. You just need 3 hands, no shoulders and the upper body strength of a rugby prop forward to do it. Better yet, get someone to sit in the passenger seat with a stick to hold the pedal down.

Filled the clutch pedal with grease last nite and it's loads better, no creaking now either. Didn't have a problem with pressing the clutch in while down there to be honest, maybe it had a bit of grease in already. Next job is discs and pads all round and a new exhaust flexi pipe
