Hi All

I have a 2006 Accord 2.2 I-CTDI, 102k on the clock. Im getting a strange 'clunk' after i've changed from 1st to 2nd gear. This only happens when the car has been started and driven for the first time. so, I get in the car, start the engine, move off in 1st, change to 2nd, accelerate....'clunk'...carry on as normal. I can feel it in the pedals slightly, and it is audible outside. If I'm taking off from a red light or in traffic, its fine. If i switch off and on again, the 'clunk' is back, regardless of whether the car is hot or cold.

Anyone had this before..any ideas what it could be?

Thanks

hmmm..wouldn't it make the sound all the time then? This only happens when the car has been switched on and driven. If i stop and take off again, theres no 'clunk', but if it switch the engine off and back on again and then take off, i get the clunk in 2nd

I've got a clunk that's noticeable when lifting my foot off the clutch after gear changes, mainly from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third. I've got a feeling my clutch release bearing is the cause. Sometimes there screech and a whine, which I know is the clutch release bearing.

I have the same issue, it only CLUNKS the first time after starting. I've lived with it for 4 years, 40,000 miles later. I can feel it in the gas pedal that something is clunking into place, but it's not affecting the drive. Engine mount, perhaps?
