Car stuck in manual today in middle of taxi rank would not go in any gear turned engine off and restarted,no probs since but over last few weeks gears 1-2 seem really tight and hard to change every so often,i have been reading up and noticed people have been having trouble with 3rd gear?? gear box oil change seems the answer, so going to get done next service. (week after xmas)
Was changed in june when replaced clutch and they used ultra MTF3 then clutch was replaced again last week of august not sure if new mtf3 was put in or they used old as honda did all the work free as it was a faulty clutch and i was given no paper work.

Hi Dave,

I thought I'd posted already, but it seems to have been lost... anyhow.

TBH I'd start with flushing the gear box oil - I used only genuine Honda MTF3 fluid - these gearboxes are quiet particular about their oils.

Also, are you sure the clutch is *fully* disengaging? Did you check the level of fluid of the clutch system? (i.e. master/slave cylinder)? Perhaps there's a leak or air in it.

Hi,

This sounds like the start of a dmf issue, if its diesel.

Problem is with it being used as a taxi, even though I know you look after it, it's accelerating wear on everything.. I would also think DMF worst cases scenario but it could also be clutch fluid as an air lock in the clutch fluid will cause this problem too.. Have the transmission fluid and clutch fluid done to be safe mate.

was it a dealer fitted original part?
Whats the pedal feel like, is it smooth coming up and not notchy or sticking.

I would flush out and bleed the fluid again to start with.

+1 with the clutch fluid bud. This semi-sorted a similar problem, although now I have clutch slip, I wonder if the two are related some how.

It can do but I think it wont be that because it wont go in gear so I'm leaning towards one of the cylinders maybe slave cylinder. Hopefully its something simple as a fluid bleed.

Yes all parts honda original, clutch smooth on release all gears feel smooth on change just occasional when stiff between 1st and 2nd,and last wk when in manual would not go in any gear switched of been fine since  Going to change clutch and gearbox fluids next week thanks for info. Just hid lights to fix now, might have to get garage to do not confident in installing these

Ordered all oil and fluids to day for change of gearbox fluid and clutch and all parts for 137.5k service from HH £114 including 6ltr of ow30 gave me 25% discount and free p&p. Should i change fuel filter at same time even though was changed last service??? What mileage should i leave between change of fuel filter

Dave I remember seein your filter, it looked new and if you know its been done by the dealer, just leave it. Do drain it from the bottom, prime it and bleed it as you may find that any water collected in the bottom will freeze in the winter and possibly cause problems.
