Hi,
Has anyone installed a Tablet to use as a navigation system (Using apps such as Google Maps/Garmin)? I have looked around and most videos on youtube and google searches appear to install Honda/Similar navigation systems. I am wondering if someone has attempted to install a Tablet which can then be hooked into car Audio system to play music (Spotify/Personal collection of music)?

Any interest/thoughts?

Thanks

There is a project to interface a carpc with the OEM 7th navigation. It's not cheap... I'm working on this too, soon I will start testing, may be I will succeed :)

Surely you could just install an aux in and a suitable mounting point for your tablet.I use my phone instead of the built in sat Nav in my accord because I think Google maps is much better and I'm to tight to pay silly money for a new disc.

Check those ones:

If you are with OEM Audio without navigation, this could be the best way to do it. But as I have OEM Navi I prefer to do everything with it. If your only concern is the navigation program and you want just another software, I would suggest to
use the video input of the navigation and put your smartphone as a navigation unit :) Some video input switching will be needed, but can be done with on/off switches too.

Check out the mighty mods video on YouTube if for no other reason than the comedy factor.
Not sure if linking is allowed but you can find it easy by searching the tube for "mighty car mods iPad.
I can imagine it's a lot tougher slapping in a tablet into an accord though!

My brother has done it on his euroR using a nexus tablet. It works really well and he gets all his diagnostic info via a Bluetooth reader on the screen too plus satnav and internet

If you look through the Premier tuning Facebook page photo albums you will see the euroR and I'm sure there's pics and even a video in there

It;s not bad but not the most convenient way. If your car hasn't an OEM SatNav - it's not a bad idea. If you already has one, it's more convenient to use the OEM Display and touchscreen to use aftermarket SatNavi software, bluetooth, carPC etc. Currently I'm working on such a device. This weekend I hope, I will have enough time to do the next bunch of tests, and I will post some videos here :)

Looking forward to see the results. I have oem nav and wants to integrate something. Bought Xcar link media card which turned out to be crap and returning it.
There are companies which make such media cards...

But getting them delivered in UK will cost arm and leg.
