What is it that makes a 'tick' noise when I depress the clutch to change gear? It sounds like an electronic switch/relay type noise as opposed to a mechanical click. Only noticed it for the first tome today and it does it on every actuation of the clutch pedal. Odd?

There is a fix somewhere on here for it, it's a common fault, think it's under DIY for clicking clutch pedal, sure someone will dig it out.

Found something about a loose nut on the clutch master cylinder. Is that the one you were thinking of?

Looks like I need to do some rooting around in the footwell to find the culprit.

It's the master cylinder. You need to lubricate the piston with mollykote grease

Thanks - I've just found and read your DIY post on the topic. I must admit I am surprised that it could be something mechanical as the click sounds just like a single tick of the indicator relay. Happy to take advice from those in the know, so will have a good look soon and arm myself with the required syringe, tubing and grease.

It's a dry O ring causing it inside the cylinder

The 'other' DIY thread relating to this issue mentions that this fix will not deal with the tick from the cruise control switch attached to the clutch pedal. Could my noise be this? There is no feeling/sensation through the pedal ***ociated with my click.

Will give the grease thing a go anyway, while I investigate.

It's possible but you won't know till you try

I haven't tackled the greasing job yet. The 'tick' is still there and it has now developed e full 'creak' and stiff pedal also. Was this supposed to have been a recall? Is there a replacement master cylinder which successfully solves the problem?
