So I'm driving to work and this morning and opted for some contemporary, solo-piano classical music (Ryuichi Sakamoto - 'Playing The Piano' if anyone's interested).

Anyway, I'm doing 70mph on a 4 lane, dual carriage way A-Road and listening to this quiet, subtle, delicate piano music. I'm in a heightened state of relaxation due to the mood of the music, the sun was shining, it was a cool morning and there was a slight mist over the fields either side of the road. Very tranquil indeed. I look at the people over taking me, or those I'm over taking and I think they don't look half as at peace with the world right now, as me. I felt like I was driving in a Jaguar advert or something ;) .

Seriously, how many people can comfortably listen to gentle classical music at 70mph and not have it drowned out by wind, engine, tyre noise etc. Obviously the German power houses and the to an extent also the Swedes. But to get such an experience from the same people who build the HR-V and the Jazz.... Nice one guys... They know how to get you seriously considering brand loyalty for future purchases.

Anyway, that's my Monday morning ramble over and done with, better go and do some work  .

:)

I think the reason you can hear the tyres is that the engine is so quiet, to get rid of road noise with a diesel engine, buy a peugoet or a ford. LOL oops wrong thread sorry, should have been put on tyre noise.

Ahh Sakamoto...Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence ;-p

Accord 7th gen not lauded for its road noise characteristics , but its one I can suffer.
Just get some Kasabian on ( Vlad the Impaler will do..) and try to relax to that one LOL.

My mate is a BMW lover and he saw my car for the first time yesterday, I didn't want to take him out in it though and I'm glad I didn't as when he started his 320D up (and revved it) I realised just how quiet the Honda diesel really is!! He'd probably slit his wrists in jealousy. :D

I ***ume the diesel's noisier than the petrol too. ;)

All I can say is, I was doing 70mph and could hear the air between the notes in his playing. A great car, a great stereo and when you consider its retail price... Wow! When you consider I paid £5K with 33K on the clock Triple Wow  !

Now my old A8, that was a quiet car with stunning stereo, double glazing rocks. If anything it was too quiet that you couldn't hear that lovely v8 under the bonnet.
