Joining a dual carriageway the other day, in fifth - doing about 45mph. Car didn't seem to want to accelerate. Changed down into third, still didn't react until I pushed the accelerator down towards the floor, and then all was well.

All done more quickly than it takes to write: why's this not responding; aha; we're on our way now.

So I'm guessing the turbo didn't kick in properly.

Is this the beginning of a fatal turbo problem, or is it a mild hiccough not to be worried about? It's been fine since. Engine was reasonably warm at the time; had been garaged over-night in underground carpark at about 17 degrees, and had done maybe 10 urban miles since.

2005 2.2D Tourer with about 150k on the clock

Thanks

Could be a sticky EGR value - this can cause hesitation.

Could also be the EVR value - this controls the pitch of the turbo vanes and ultimately available boost.

And lights thrown on the dash?

Unless the turbo is making noise or sounding funny, I'd start with the simplest things first.

No lights on the dash. No funny noises.

I have a feeling it did this a few months ago. A wait and see what happens thing?

Probably the EGR... unless it's more consistent, I'd save your money.

You could check your EGR and give it a clean, if you're handy with spanners.

Yes, could be EGR valve. But might also be the fuel filter... was it changed in the last 25k miles/2 years and is it the correct part (Bosch unit with part number ending in 442)?

Yes, new Honda-supplied fuel filter in place. (Or at least, the garage were paid to. I might check that.)

Don't mind getting my fingers a bit oily, provided (a) the instructions are clear and ( B) there aren't things that might blow up. e.g. I've gone off changing brake pads since ABS units.

Probably not the FF then!

There are good guides here on cleaning and testing the EGR valve. Jason put up a brilliant video a month or so ago on testing the valve using an electrical supply.

before you spend money on this go out in the car give it some beans, 45mph in top? no wonder it would not go. When it did I will wager you left the car behind in a cloud of its own.

All the correct things already pointed out, ensure the fuel filter is bled correctly.. try and check the EGR valve and do give it the beans every once in a while.

The EGR valve fail now and again, for peace of mind option, it's to have it remap off! This can be done by fahad.
My tourer had brand new EGR valve replaced in 80k but it fail on 103k, very gut it only work for 20k miles, and now remapped the car has better performance ever..acceleration is sensitive, whole car react on your foot, awesome power in just over 1500rmp as turbo kick in.
