Hi Guys

Does anyone know what the pin outs are for the 6pin connector on the back of the pre-face lift model DVD unit (2003 Model)
I'm trying to add a reversing camera to my original head unit
I'm ***uming there for the video input but I'm probably barking up the wrong tree

Cheers

I think I'm right in thinking on the facelift model DVD ROM drive for the sat nav has a spare socket where you simply connect the video feed from a reversing camera. The Pre-Facelift doesn't have this socket for some reason.

Therefore you need to buy an Xcarlink video interface and wire your reversing camera to this. This plugs into the back of the head unit and will automatically switch over the sat nav screen to the reversing camera when you engage the gear (don't ask me how it knows you're in reverse  ).

It's a bit more of an expensive solution. Or maybe try and get hold of a face lift DVD ROM drive from a breakers or something. That might work.

I must stress though, I'm only going from what I've read, so get another opinion. I too was thinking about this mod, did some reading, but ruled it out for now as a pre-facelift looks to be a fair bit more convoluted and expensive than the facelift.

Thanks Steve

I did have my hands on a post DVD rom but the connectors on the back of the unit are different to the wiring harness
1 of the connectors fitted but not the other 1 (Large fitted / Small didn't)
The old unit has 3 connectors + aerial and the new ones have 7 I think.

I have looked at the Xcarlink option, but like yourself the cost has put a kybosh on that.
I must admit that I was taught to park my car when I was taught to drive so the parking camera would be a nice extra but not £150 worth of extra.

Thanks for your reply
