Hi Guys,

I have the worst luck with tyre punctures!! Had a nail AGAIN right on the edge and so had to replace that and causing a slow puncture. Like the 7th or 8th tyre I have replaced for the car in last 6 months lol

Decided to pop over to another garage that is reputable in my area rather than the one I normally use as I am losing my patience with them. These guys saved me a fiver on each tyre straight away. I have lost count on how many tyres I have had to replace due to punctures and cracked tyres.

Anyways, when I drive over 35mph, I get a loud humming noise that accompanies it. The guys changed tyres around and done all that he could and he has got it down to rear near side bearing. Never going back to old tyre shop. Whilst there he showed me the state of my rear pads and discs and it wasn't looking good lol and needs changing.

He has quoted me for supply and fitting rear nearside wheel bearing, rear brake discs and pads for 245?? Plus I cheekily asked him to replace my fuel filter that I bought of the forum lol

Highly unlikely he is using original parts. I am totally clueless when it comes to these kind of things (its just who i am!!) :D

Any advice would be gratefully welcomed!

Honda should be around £260 for discs and pads:

No idea about bearing, and no idea whether you should take it to Honda, I'd say that's your call!

You cant buy the bearing separate for the rears its a complete HUB.
Have a look at the link.

Thanks for that guys. I know that the whole hub needs to be replaced and the garage guy was aware of that. Just spoke to Holdcroft, worked out to roughly 240 for all parts after I told him I was a TA member. Didn't bother asking for labour as its a far place from me!

Hi just fitted new rear pads and discs from EBC which cost £61 delivered, only took 1hr each side trying to cure exact same problem.

I have priced rear hubs at around £80 as still got same noise, looks quite easy having already done pads and discs.

DIY the brakes if you are confident to do it. Or at least have a go with the brakes with someone with more knowledge overlooking you.

Mitch- have you got a link to the parts? That would be fantastic.

Saj- dunno anyone that can help me. Plus too busy with work to have time to commit a day to do this.

Hear you go and we have a discount code as well.

Cheers Brett!! Any chance of discount code plz? :p

Might aswell buy it from here and get my uncles mate who is a mechanic to change them. :D

Any ideas on wheel bearings? Done a search on the forum but nothing mentioning where they purchased it from and the price?

Get your uncles mate to price one up as if he is a mechanic he will no doubt have a trade account with a local motor factors and will be able to get it cheaper than you can.

think these guys go through eurocarparts, which I have seen to cost £125 for what I need and they have a 25% discount online which brings it down to £95. Even at just over £70 from brakes4u I find that to be cheaper than I would have expected. Plus dunno if he is that close to the dude. But will give it a try! Let the haggling commence!!
