..........to listen to those who have more experience of these cars than I do.

As a professional engineer (chemical, but with a lot of mechanical knowledge) I know full well what a worn bearing sounds like and I was absolutely convinced that's what my car had. I spent a considerable amount of time, but fortunately no money, trying to hunt down which bearing it was with no success. Today for a totally unrelated reason I had all four tyres changed and guess what - the noise has gone!

I just didn't believe what others had written on this subject. How wrong I was.

I've had the same noise and it's been driving me mad lol, I changed the rear tyres today and the noise has gone at last . It's like driving a different car all together . I too was convinced it was a wheel bearing noise for ages intill I noticed it made no difference to the sound when loading the bearing up by steering left or right .

If it makes you feel any better I'm a marine engineer by trade and have also done a lot of work on all makes of cars but I've never come across a car that is as sensitive to tyres as the accord is .

It's good to learn something new every day.

I don't feel bad about it. I'm far too thick-skinned for that!

Interestingly, the noise did change somewhat when steering left/right. With hindsight I'll put that down to the load on the dodgy tyre changing.

The Accords have a fixed chamber, over time as bushes wear the chamber starts to to out and wears out the insides of the tyres as it does so you start to hear wheel bearing drone.

With brand new set of tyres the noise goes away because (for now) the tyres are sitting better on the road. The incorrect chamber will start to wear out the insides of the tyres again though.

The solution is to have adjustable chamber arms fitted and get the chamber corrected on a laser tracking system.

Happened to me with my Accord when it was still a company car. I even got the Fleet guys to change the bearing/hub ***embly.. the problem persisted. I bought the car off them and moved to 18" rims with new tyres... problem gone :p
