Right, what a few weeks, rear calliper ceased after being replaced 2 years back, powered tailgate died, bird destroyed wing and now its started making a right racket.
I was somewhat worried it was a turbo or injector initially but lack of smoke ruled them out. Took the belt off and it went so it was something on the pulley system. Had it into Holdcroft Stoke as i was happy to pay the £50 rather than mess about potentially replacing parts that didnt need replacing taking time im short of. They say water pump is gone.
They say its the worst sounding accord they have heard. Well it does and always has sounded like a bag of spanners since i bought it at end of lease when 4yrs old. Since then ive put 40K on it and i have popped into honda stockport to ask aout the noise (prob after 6 months of ownership) where the mechanic said it will be the chain rattling but they dont snap so dont worry.
I suspect its had the wrong oil in as i remember seeing receipts for Kwik Fit when i bought the car but didnt think anything of it at the time, nor did i do my research, and im sure i put 5/30 in last time i serviced it a few thousand miles back. oops!
SO it prob does need the chains doing to be fair, however im beyond skint and to be honest not really that concerned as it sounds no different to ever before with the belt off.
Just had a look at pictures of pump while on the phone to my trusty mechanic and the water pump looks easy to replace, drain and 7 bolts, fill up. Ill do that asap and put some decent 0w/30 oil in for the time being and see if that has any short term effect.
Question is, ill get the chain done, however a quick glance at ebay suggests there are 2 kits, one has one belt and the other has 2. Ill replace guides and tensioners too but what about sprockets?
Can anyone who has done this point me in the right direction for a decent priced chain kit inc sprockets and confirm what grade oil should be in there.
Cheers guys
