Guys,

It's time for me to leave the joys of accord ownership behind. Due to a recent promotion I've been given an allowance and told to get something newer than the Accord.

So I started a search and found a particularly nice 12 month old Civic EX GT that I agreed to buy at the weekend.

This does leave me in a quandary, I've got the stage 1 remap from Fahad and I am wondering what would be the easiest way to return it to stock settings prior to sale?

Any ideas?

Why wouldn't you just leave it on and tell the new owner?

Plus one, leave it on and just give them Faddy's number. If he did the map, I am pretty certain he has your original on file.

I'd leave it on and not tell the new owner. That way they;

- Don't think you're a boy racer who's modified the car and thrashed it around
- Will have a more powerful and driveable car as standard
- Will heap loads of praise on the Honda to their mates
- Will not have to tell their insurance company about the modification as they are blissfully unaware

And then they have a smash and don't get a payout...

I've read that insurance don't take ignorance on engine maps as an excuse. If it's mapped and not declared it invalidates your policy.

Ok, you've sold your car, it's not your problem anymore, but it's bad karma man ;) .

It's been part exchanged but I still think that it's probably for the best to return to stock settings..

Unfortunately if it needs Fahad I'm unsure if I will be able to get up to his before the car goes.

perhaps he can send you the files for a local firm to apply?

Fortunately Fahad is fairly close today so he's offered to reset to stock FOC.

Top bloke that he is.

Apparently a Galletto will do the job and it's fairly easy to do if you have a copy of the original map.

Speak with Fahad pal. He will be able to advise on best solution. Just drop him a pm and he will get back you.

Didn't realise you'd started a thread about it mate  Yep just swing by today I'm home.

Cheers Fahad,

Car runs ****** awful now, no oomph. :(

But then I feel better about whoever ends up with the car not having any awkward questions to answer with their insurance should it come to that.

All I can say is that the stage 1 remap is an essential upgrade for any Accord diesel owner, you can certainly tell when it's not there and if you live in the NW you've got no excuse not to get in touch with Fahad and book in.
