2007 Accord EX - front bumper advice

2.2 http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/honda/accord/honda-accord-2-2-i-ctdi-sport-4dr-leather-alcantara-interior/1824551

2.4 http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/honda/accord/honda-accord-2-4-i-vtec-ex--plus-dvd-sat-nav-hft-bluetooth-at/1596509

The difference is internal, not external?

One other question though - is the grille the same shape and fit on pre and post facelift cars? When I change the bumper, will I need a new grille as well?

I think the grille is different also, as there's a different style to the overall bumper - but it might fit.

I stand corrected - Mr Honda is right. I've checked the part numbers and the bumper is the same Honda part code for the 2.4 EX, 2.0 EX and 2.2 EX

e.g.

2.4 - http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection.php?block_01=17SEA701&block_02=B__4600&block_03=3172

2.2 - http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection.php?block_01=17SEA701&block_02=B__4600&block_03=3164

2.0 - http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection.php?block_01=17SEA701&block_02=B__4600&block_03=3148

So it looks like you just need to get an EX bumper from any car in the facelift range.

And here I was thinking I'd be able to get a bumper like this....

I had a look around the net for an aftermarket front bumper, but there don't seem to be any for the Accord. :D

Anyway... thanks for all the replies and info, much appreciated. ;)

Grill is different on both pre and facelift models

I had a close look at my neighbour's dad's 7th gen facelift last night and compared the grille to my own. Based purely on the visual (I didn't take a tape measure to it or anything), the two look to me to be the same shape and size. I know they look different. His has more chrome - I prefer mine, tbh.

I've stuck an ad for a bumper in the Wanted section on here, and also sent an enquiry to a firm called Japarts. No reply as yet. I would have phoned a few breakers but I've just done my back in and can hardly walk at the moment.

Boo on the back mate. That sucks.

I shouldn't think the bumper fitments themselves are different from pre-facelift to facelift, just the actual bumper itself is a different shape/style.

Sure I'll be alright after a few days of ibuprofen, codeine, and lager. B)

As for the bumper fitment... someone managed to fit a pre-facelift bumper and grill onto my facelift car. :) Having said that, the more I look at the gap between the bumper and the headlights, the more I'm convincing myself that it's slightly too big and the bumper isn't quite a perfect fit.

What do we think of this :- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261319946882

Looks good, make sure the "bumper" includes the washers and foglights... for £99 it'd be hard to go wrong (it's even the same colour)

Isn't it the wrong one?

I've looked at the photos earlier in this thread and I think that's a pre-facelift bumper with a facelift grill.

Now, I'm confused.... I thought you liked the pre-facelift shape?? (BTW, yes it's the PFL model)

Right! Yep, that's a pre-facelift, you can tell as the pre-facelift has a strip of chrome trim on the bonnet itself. The facelift doesn't have a strip of chrome trim on the bonnet. That's your indicator.

Here's a Pre-Facelift:

Now a Facelift:

Notice the Pre-Facelift has subtle chrome trim around the edge of the grill and the facelift has big garish chrome all over the grill. That's how you know which is which and why the Pre-Facelift looks better :p .

Now, it would seem from what you've said the pre-facelift bumper isn't a perfect fit on the facelift car. I would agree with this having taken a closer look at the way the bumper sits around the lights etc in your pictures.

My advice would be, get a facelift bumper from an exec with the washers and fogs and get a facelift sports grill. That way you'll have a proper fitting/looking bumper and grill that isn't like a Chrome vomit ;) . Just my opinion (in case you can't tell, I'm not a fan of Chrome on the Accord  )

Sorry, I meant the bumper. I'm happy with the pre-facelift grill that I've already got (and it seems to fit okay), it's a facelift front bumper that I want.

Ah, ok. Then, no, you'll have to wait for the facelift :)

That seems like good advice to me. :) Although it would be better if you could include where I could get these parts from for something approaching sensible money. :D

I don't like the chrome strip on the facelift either. Of the 3/4 Accords I looked at, the one I bought looked better because of the colour, the wheels, and the grille, which is why I bought it. If I'd known then what I know now, I might not have. Or got the price lowered further.

eBay Breakers

We have the same colour car with the same front bumpers/grill :D . We should start an Indigo Blue Pre-Facelift Brotherhood

Well, I'm game! :D

A mate of mine in the accident repair business is on the case to see if he can get hold of a bumper and a grille (grill?) for me. Watch this space...

Fantastic news. It helps to have mates in such industries ;) .

Well, even at mates rates, a bumper and a grill is a fair few quid. The bumper is admittedly cheaper than getting one from a scrapper and having it sprayed though. I'll have to carefully think about this.

The replacement bumper turned out to just be a bare bumper. Trim, grilles, fittings, etc, had to be ordered separately.

A breaker has offered me a bumper for £250 and can't guarantee the colour, which sounds to me like it's definitely not the right colour.

Another had one for £50 but for some reason it sold the instant I expressed an interest in it. :(

I asked for more details on this, and they said they didn't have it in stock and had quoted by mistake! Lucky I didn't order and pay for it, then...

Dude you live in lancashire, Japanses breakers galore. Just go down to one and check in person dude. Personally for £250 it would need to be mint and have everything attached and in the right colour

You'd be surprised at how many facelift Accords have had front end crashes around here....

I might just buy a new bare bumper and put it in the garage, and get the various other bits over a few months to spread the cost out a bit.

Can anyone tell me if a facelift Type-S bumper will fit onto a facelift EX ?
