Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone can offer advice on an intermittent problem i have with my accord, it is on a 54 plate has 110000 on the clock with a reasonable but not perfect service history, (I have owned the car for 8 months now and done 12.4k and had 2 services carried out in that time). The car runs well generally, average fuel consumption between 41 - 47 mpg depending on journey type and doesn't really burn a lot of oil, maybe half a litre over 10k. however when i accelerate hard, to say overtake or up a motorway slip road, the car misfire quite violently and then splutters, for want of a better term, for 15 seconds or so. This generally happens in 2nd or 3rd gear and sometimes in 4th, if i depress the clutch the car does not splutter after the initial misfire, if i depress it and then raise it the splutter can often still be felt. Also another problem that may or may not be related when i accelerate in 4th the car revs will sometimes shoot form 2k to 3k and then drop back down to around 2 - 2.5 and a with no corresponding increase in power / speed......
There is no warning light and the garage i use have suggested that this may be due to the air mass meter.
Anyone have any ideas as i really like the car but can't trust it to have power when it may be needed?
Thanks
