I don't think it is the clutch release bearing as the noise is more of a whining noise rather than a squeeking type of noise. Obviously I could be totally wrong though! I'll see if I can get a video up to give a better idea of the sound.

Car is a diesel, and the smoke looks white. I've booked it in with a honda dealer and they want £60 just to check it and diagnose it. Seems like the manifold issue to me though. Will see if I can get alternator tested tomorrow.

Yes..i replaced the battery without testing. It was more than 4 years old so thought it would need replacing anyway. I checked the battery with a multimeter and it was around 12.6 when off and about 13.7 when on ......with lights etc all on it was still around 13.6ish. As a bonus just spotted...

Sorted it. I had it piggy backed onto a 20A fuse in the number 9 slot (cig lighter). Switched it to the number 10 slot which is a 7.5A and is apparently not used. Cam came on only when the car was switched on and turned off when ignition was turned off. Solid.

The problem is that the camera DOES stay on when it should switch off (when the car switches off)

I've wired the camera to the cigarette lighter using the cable that came with the camera and the camera does not stay on once the car is off. Is there any reason why it would do it when I have hardwired it to the internal fuse box? It does not make any sense
