    DIY Alternator change

Thanks for the guide. My alternator bearings gave up mid way through moving house with my tool kit already gone. Managed to replace it with a little improvisation. The two lower fan housing bolts were corroded in too bad to remove in the time I had. It turns out you can remove the alternator...

    Clutch Slip Record

Good advice above. I usually stay clear of main dealers due to past experience of others but HH have just fitted a clutch for a great price.

    Injector issues

The tool has a tip that blocks the port into the cylinder and most debris collected in a recess at the circumference of the seat (The outermost part of the seat seems to have been machined slightly deeper than the rest). On the injector that was reasonably clean no cutting was required and no...

    Clutch Slip Record

Well 42,000 later the clutch is dead. It decided to give up towing the caravan through the Snowdonia Mountains. I've managed to get back (just), hope I havn't fried the flywheel in the process! Does anyone know a good clutch place near telford / wolverhampton?

    Injector issues

Since my seats were a real mess I bought the cutting tool. The advice I got was not to recut unless it was really necessary because the clearence between the injector and piston is critical. The tool also proved to be ideal for just cleaning.

    Diesel Injector Removal

I'm sure you'll keep us updated with your progress. I was left with oil leaks from the timing chain case and sump gaskets after honda replaced my chains. I've just lived with them thinking the engine had to be lifted and it's too heavy for any kit I've got access to. It will be interesting to...

    Diesel Injector Removal

I think you earned a pint of IPA for your efforts. On mine the entire body length of 2 injectors was glued in place with carbon. I guess your's are what they are like when fitted correctly. Are you planning to replace your chains without removing the engine?

    Diesel Injector Removal

IPA (NOT Indian Pale Ale but Isopropyl Alcohol) seems to eat well through carbon, as a last resort, but make sure you give it time to evaporate out of the cylinder before starting the engine again. Turning the engine over without the retaining bolts might loosen them but I was warned by Honda...

2005 2.2 diesel Tourer Jumping slightly with aircon on

That sounds familiar. It almost feels like an impact when the AC clutch operates on mine and I thought it was a fault initially but all the Accords I've seen are similar. The AC fans turning on at the same time seem to cause the charging system to activate too, making the change in load even...

    Clutch Slip Record

I've always believed strongly in cleaning the fuel and exhaust systems by trying to press my right foot through floor every now and again, prehaps the clutch is not amused and fuel injector seals for that matter. Someone must have beat my (now) 41K record!

    Clutch Slip Record

My cavaliers and vectra all did over 180k on the origional clutch, hopefully the accord will do the same. Clutch replacement, on the Accord, is one job I won't be tasking myself with.

    Clutch Slip Record

Reference to the infamous 7th gen clutch slip: When the clutch in my diesel first began to slip around 3 years ago with 97K miles on the clock I got quotes for a replacement and expected immanent failure but today It's still going strong. It slips only a few times per year, usually during...

Crankshaft pulley for auxiliary drive belt

I eventually removed the 19mm bolt from a civic with the same engine. After trying to lock the flywheel I had to concede defeat and buy the special tool, it cost ~£30 for Sealey's version but other unbranded ones are available on fleabay (search 'honda pulley tool'). With the pulley locked the...

    Replacement of engine chains

I started heading down the route of replacing my own chain a few years ago until I found out about the extended warranty, I got as far as obtaining a print out from the maintenance manual. As for the noise: it started out as a typical noisy chain rattle noticeable on a relatively quiet diesel...

Injector Refitted - Fails to Start

Yes, this time I invested in an injector puller set (with slide hammed) and seat cutting / cleaning tool. They are only cheap versions from Ebay but the're some of the better cheap ones. Unlike the first injector, that removed itself from the engine after the retaining bolt sheared, this one...
