Anyone tried a boot bike rack on tourer?

Gareth. I'm guessing that Saris won't approve a tailgate mounted bike rack on the Accord Tourer because the lower section is plastic and the supports and retaining straps place a considerable strain on the tailgate when bikes are loaded on it. I regularly carry a mountain bike inside my...

Heated Seat Base and Tyres - Query & Options

The Continentals get excellent reviews and were 3rd overall in this year's Auto Express test, but were top in both wet and dry handling tests. They were top last year but lost that spot to Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, mainly because of low scores on fuel efficiency and cabin noise. The cheapest I...

Heated Seat Base and Tyres - Query & Options

Chris. I am about to purchase two new tyres for my Accord and plan to fit Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance. I've recently had two fitted to my wife's Mito and they have been fine, although they are no quieter than the Michelins they replaced, despite the low noise rating. The factory fit...

    MPG idtec tourer

Manual. Based on owner reviews, the 5 speed auto box on both the CRV and Accord iDTEC appears to be much less fuel efficient than the manual box. However the new 9 speed ZF auto fitted to the CRV 1.6 iDTEC (160 BHP) appears to be only marginally less efficient than the manual.

    MPG idtec tourer

Like TourerFan the dashboard mpg figures on my Tourer are pessimistic (by 0.5 mpg) unlike my previous CRV and my wife's Mito. Driven normally I average approximately 52mpg, but living in a rural area I do little stop/start driving. Based on this your consumption seems very reasonable. Towing a...

    Wheel Noise?

Thanks for that information. I'll ask them to check this when it next goes in for service.

    Wheel Noise?

How strange. I have exactly the same problem. At slow speeds it sounds like a dull thud and at 60 mph a thud with a slight whistle. Above 60 I cannot hear it. It started in June when I was towing my caravan through France, and was particularly noticeable on the very smooth toll motorways. As...

    Differences between Tourer and Sedan

The braked trailer towing limits outlined above are for different engines/gearboxes. The 2.2 i DTEC manual has a braked trailer maximum of 1500 kg - 1700 kg, depending on model. The auto has a maximum braked weight of 1100 kg. The 2.0 i VTEC (manual & auto) has a braked maximum of 1500 kg...

Turning an EX into an EX GT

Coincidentally I have recently had the front nearside splitter/spoiler repaired on my ES GT after it was hit by a number plate thrown up from a lorry, causing a line of deep scars across it. The repairer removed the splitter from the bumper to carry out the repair and respray so it must be...

Tow bar on Type S Tourer

John. The towbar fitted to your car is a Bosal which is the approved Honda towbar and so the first owner would probably have specified this when he ordered the car. Since 1998 all towbars have to be type approved to meet European regulations and so you can legally tow anything up to 1700kg on...

Tow bar on Type S Tourer

According to the fitting instructions on the TowTrust website only the Type S saloon needs extra bumper cuts for its towbars. Dedicated wiring is an expensive option and, as far as I am aware there is no 'plug and play' facility on the Accord and the wiring has to be spliced. I have had bypass...

Tow bar on Type S Tourer

If the Type S bumper is different to the standard bumper it may be down to aesthetics. The disadvantage of the vertical detachable is that a much bigger bumper cut is needed to accommodate the pivot plate which hides the electric socket. Normally the towbar and electrics will be completely...

Test drove an Accord 2.2 i DTEC EX 4dr (08) - enocountered noise

edgeoftime You can have the engine but I'd prefer to keep my foot! Seriously, I do live in a rural area, but I haven't done anything special to achieve these figures and several Accord owners' reviews state 50+ as average consumption. When What Car did their 'real world mpg' SUV tests, the...

Test drove an Accord 2.2 i DTEC EX 4dr (08) - enocountered noise

I have to disagree with the comment, 'iDtec struggles to get over 50 mpg unless you drive like a nun'. I think it's a superb engine and driven normally my Tourer has averaged 52 over the last 1000 miles. Only when cold on short runs does it drop below 50. On fast motorway runs this will often...

Tow bar on Type S Tourer

I own a 2014 ES GT Tourer with a detachable towbar, which is the same as for a Type S. The detachable towbar is certainly neater than a fixed, but is considerably more expensive, and you need to be aware that it is a horizontal detachable not a vertical detachable (like Audi, BMW etc) and so the...
