    Power steering hose, upper.

Dear All, I had a leak on my upper power steering hose, just where it passes through the clamp on the back of the rocker cover. I suspect that when I took the engine out last year I might not have treated that hose gently enough, but it might be a common problem? I'm not sure. A garage in...

    major help needed

I did the oil and camshaft chains on my accord. A long story that I posted on this forum. Although I've not done the job with the engine in situ, and maybe it's possible if you have a ramp, I ended up realising it was much easier to take the engine out. I have various tools and parts that might...

    Drinks holder cover catch

Thanks for both your responses. Definitely the eBay route looks better than a new unit from Honda, if the unit is even available. It's just a question of matching the interior trim spec. Thanks for the parts diagram. That seems to show the whole back half of the centre consol being fixed by a...

    Timing chain?

Thanks Graham, Matt, Motorhate (??), for your replies. I'm loving my car, in London the diesel engine is so much nicer to drive than my sister's petrol Accord, as I have the torque which makes for a smoother ride and fewer gear changes. My car feels like a quality vehicle, the way the doors...

    Wiper blade replacement.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice. I bought Bosch blades over the counter from Europarts. £20+ for both. I'm hoping they will behave like blades on a new car.Let's see! Cheers! Tim M

    Drinks holder cover catch

On my '05 CTDi the drinks holder cover will no longer catch and lie flat. Peering into other cars I see this might be a common problem. Has anyone had to repair theirs? It seems like a small matter (because it is!) but I'd like to fix mine if I can. Thanks, Tim M

    Wiper blade replacement.

Hi, Does anyone have experience of choosing the best wiper blades? Mine shudder and squeak as they cross the screen even when it's raining. Is it best to buy Honda? Or another brand? Can just the rubber be replaced? Thanks. Tim M

    Timing chain?

Dear All, Just to complete my story for the sake of a positive relationship to life: Recap: I bought a 7th generation ctdi for £200 as a non runner, with timing chain issues. I received a lot of useful advice from this forum, and then got absorbed into fixing the car and didn't finish my story...

Installing aux input socket for sound system.

Hi All, I've been searching on the site to see if anyone has installed an auxiliary sound system input socket on a 2005 accord ctdi sport. Unless I'm a total fool, I can't find the socket in the car, and a search on YouTube gave me an American fellow installing the socket on his Accord, saying...

    Radiator spigot repair?

Hi, I notice on that my 2005 Accord the small return pipe linking the reserve coolant tank to the radiator has broken off at the radiator, with the plastic connecting spigot now broken from the upper plastic section of the radiator. Has anyone made this repair before? and if so, how? Thanks. Tim M

    Timing chain?

Hi All, Just to say I have picked up the Civc engine. A complete lump. I am praying and ***uming the basic block is the same as my Accord but it is hard to tell as the block is currently buried in the Civic's wiring, ancillaries, turbo, intake equipment etc. However I have the Accord engine...

    Timing chain?

Hi All, Just to update my story: I was kindly given a complete engine with a broken oil pump chain by a forum member. I took the cylinder head off my engine, and off the gifted engine, intending to swap them over. But then I discovered the Honda head gasket alone is £170, and oil stem seals £130...

    Timing chain?

Update, I removed the cam shafts and I can see that all the inlet rockers are smashed (to pieces, bits all over the place including the tiny needles from the bearings). And the two rockers of No 1 cylinder exhaust valves are also broken. Lucky I checked! Not sure what I'm going to do with the...

    Timing chain?

Thank you to Brian and Nicola for your last comments of support; much appreciated. Before spending out on new chains etc I thought I should check for valve damage. I thought about how to do this and came up with an ingenious idea of pressure testing the combustion chamber via the injector...

    Timing chain?

Thank you Brian, I have read the threads you gave me links to, much appreciated, and humbly I admit I should have searched the forum more thoroughly and found out the scope of the project before embarking on it. But .... then I would never have started! and got this great education! Luckily I am...

    Timing chain?

Thank you Nicola, I am adjusting emotionally to the news that there is another great challenge in this process, lowering the sub frame. I agree with what you say re ease of access with wet liquid gasket, of course. I'll need to jack the car up and survey what's involved with lowering the...

    Timing chain?

Thanks Nicola, I will keep in mind what you say about tightening the injector bolts. And please do list the parts needed if you have time. To All, Today being Saturday I had some time to work on my car: The short story is that I got all the oil pan bolts out, and removed the cam chain cover to...

    Timing chain?

Hi All, I have just read Adam Josey's tale of woe (in the Faults section) about failing to get his engine to start after fitting new oil and cam chains etc. Just anticipating my work on my car: Once everything is reassembled, how do I get oil around the engine without using the method he used...
