Just joined up as im considering a accord oil burner! What i want to know is when did the facelift models come out and what are the different specs that are available?
If the comparison is between an 05+ plate IS220d and a 2.2 CTDi then the difference should be significant. I test drove both before getting my Accord and the Lexus felt totally remote and woolly. I even went and found another just in case the first car I drove had some kind of mechanical issues; it hadn't. They both felt really difficult to access the power and there was a big flat spot before 2K revs. Also 6th gear was barely into its comfort zone at 70-80 mph.
In short one of the most disappointing cars I've driven, as I really wanted to like them and was intent on getting one, but just couldn't find a comfortable way of driving it.
The accord just felt a lot more flexible in all gears and went when I wanted it to. Regardless of being down on power on paper it just felt more usable and lively. Post remap it pulls even further away, because the only advantage the Lexus had - power - has been smashed.
If the OP's talking about an 05+ petrol, or the 99-05 IS then I'll be interested in how he felt it performed and whether the petrol versions share the weird gearing and handling?
thanks for the info lads, need to get myself to a dealer and test drive one, although it seems the 7th gen dont come in auto ........have had a couple of hondas previously, 4th gen accord and a 3rd gen prelude Si.
Ive had a look around at the forum at the mpg figures and it seems this varies quite a bit.......out of curiosity, how much does it cost to fill the tank?
