Welcome across Gunther - I think you're giving too much info away mate

Look forward to meeting you soon, very interested in seeing your results. Good luck!!

oh ma lawdy! Stage 2 remap!

Al welldone on developing this deal for everyone and of course thanks and welcome to Gunther for his work.

Andy, l'm as excited as a twisty turny thing! :)

PS. Mazda made the rx7, not Honda :)

In any case, glad to hear the petrol boys are getting some action. Al - was this the same tune in your car when I had a spin in it? If so I can vouch for it's effectiveness haha

ye i know mazda made rx7 it was a point in my life that i decided to try the rx7 but went back to honda withing 5 months

Gunther we all slip up a little in life :(

Now what about John (Puppy) I want to know how this remap went not that Im being nosey :D

Do any of you guys know if the auto box is remappable, i.e letting it go in to 5th at 30 instead of 35+ this really hits my mpg and changing the timing of the gears so it will hang on to 2nd a bit longer when slowing down, Al what power increase are you hoping for?.

Andy isn't yours a 4 speed auto? correct me if I'm wrong

5 speed mate.

Andy do you know if the box has a seperate ECU and if so, can you remove it?

We might be able to do this if you can remove the ECU and do without the car for a couple of days.. let me know and I'll check with Elite.

I don't know if its got a seperate ECU for the box, that is what i was hoping someone would tell me. If you could do it you could have the car for a few days if that would be best for you.

Andy i don't really have a specific number i want for power increase....just having the DRIVEABILITY increase is enough for me to bring extra life into the drive  i think if you go into this thinking you're going to get x power gain it'll be the wrong frame of mind......you just need to think about the consequences of lowering the vtec point

Andy, Elite tell me that yes it's likely to have a seperate ECU for the auto box.. but it's not something they can adjust the settings on :(

To be honest, we had something similar with my mates Chrysler Voyager Auto.. he wanted it to hold higher gears for longer.

We achieved this through a remap by moving his torque limiters forward.

On that principle, maybe Gunther can help you here through a remap. So if you're acheiving more torque at lower levels, the ECU won't force it to downshift gears.

Fahad, thanks for looking in to it mate.

How is this remap different than Hondata one ?
Two guys over here have Hondata relfash (new ECU) on theirs 2.4 engines , both bought trough CPL dealer.
Also it costs 6xx pounds but you receive a brand new ECU and you can switch OEM ECU with Hondata ECU whatever you want.

If a remap is done right, then you won't ever need to switch back and forth.

Also, piggyback and secondary ECU's (and any additional hardware) are another point of failure. If you can tune the existing ECU - that is always the best solution.

CPL whole ECU is £600 :) ...are you sure about those prices? if it is it's one helluva bargain......5 years ago they wanted almost £900 and that was with discount.

Each tuner has a different may of mapping, basically you can have the car tuned to your specs in terms of how you want driveability, how you want vtec to engage and where you want it to engage. I've not driven a cpl hondata car but an american TSX with hondata just feels different....lower down there feels like less torque but they try to enhance the upper end so essentially not as good pick up........but that difference maybe car specific :)

631 pounds without VAT last offer from them (I don't have to pay VAT being outside of UK)

Anyway do you have to take the car to XO for the remap or you can send them the ECU ? A friend of mine wants remap for a 2.0 engine, so he needs to know if he can send the ECU to XO.
How about imobilezer, does he need to send the keys also ?

Dinoc...ah you just reminded me something.....and yes you can send the ECU to them. With the Remap all the other car functions are still in place i.e the immobilizer so no you don't need to send the keys to them.

Well took my motor to Gunther on mon and he he's that good he turned it into a Nissan Note :) :( Lol,
long story short a software issue snarled up the process and the immobiliser code/key, or some such (gunther started tech speak at me and i nodded politely Lol,) did not copy back across Doh! anyway its about 330pm and no way to get home.. and hows this for customer service... he got me a hire car, hence the note, and hes going to get my car down to me - im now in Salisbury :D . Am lookin foward to my first drive in it when its all sorted. Still, had a good day noseyin around his workshop and watchin him work his magic with the soldering in the ECU, honestly he could be a brain surgeon with hands that steady.

cheers Gunther and, apoligies to the missis for me keepin you all day on a bank holiday

Talk about looking after a customer, good on big gunther

I take it you experienced the software issue the first time round on your car al?

Anyone can make a mistake, it's how they deal with it that counts.

Top marks Gunther

nope I had no issues with both the car's I've had mapped...it was an update to the mapping software that caused it not the actual map itself...tbh I'm impressed with what Gunther did also :)

The guy seems to have had a run of bad luck lately :(

just one thing to say really....2800rpm of vtec from 5k rpm woohooo, Milton keynes just became more fun with 1st and 2nd gear acceleration :)

burying the needle that far into the red just feels so wrong in this car but o so right :D

im hard pushed to fault this remap and it has given it a much more jekyll and hyde feel, under 4500rpm the engine seems to be offering up more torque making normal driving even more relaxed than befor, i find my self in a gear higher than i would have used previously in many situations and i was surprised when at about 35mph in 6th (flat road) i was able to accelerate relatively smoothly. At motorway speeds there is certainly more pick up in 6th making the business over overtaking easier. Vtec crossover happens around 4500 and comes on song around 5000 and then everything starts getting a bit hectic, and during hard acceleration ie taking it all the way to 7800rpm befor changing up the rpms never drop out of vtec, and the noise is fantastic.

Thanks again to Gunther, this is ace

Sounds brilliant mate, really pleased for you :)

Yep a remap is always like having a new car - you never stop smiling :)

i should be getting mine up to the guys that did my last reading in a couple of weeks to get a comparison, then ill ask them to make sure all the dyno settings are correct, as per Gunthers advice**, incase they have made any set up errors and if so see if the figures are any better.

**he thinks they may have left a preset resistance on the rollers, which apparently helps turbo cars (they are a scooby specialist) develop better power by making the turbo work harder which NA cars do not need.
