Accord Road Noise?

Hello folks,

I drive my 1.8 Sport almoust 4 years, and I noticed a lot of road noise at higher speeds.
My tires are new Kleber Dynaxer HP3, 205/55/16 and I think they are a little bit noisier than premuim brands, but thats not a problem.
Accord has defenatly done poor noise issolation. Everything higher than 120 km/h is a very loud in cabin.
Is there a solution, can I install something like Alubutyl or Dynamat in doors or trunk to reduce road noise?
What is your experience with this issue?

Tyres play a massive part on road noise mate. It could just be your tyre choice?
 
Well, at wintertime I drive Michelin Alpin A3. They are a little bit quieter than Kleber, but still there is a lot of noise at the highway.
Maybe Sport model is with less noise issolation than Executive?
 
As far as I know the only model with less sound deadning was the Type R as it had most of it removed to reduce weight.
 
Tyres will defo be a major part, if you want less noise get a tyre with a better rating for noise.

Otherwise it depends on your definition of how much road noise and what your comparing against. The Accord was a quiet and refine car in its day, but it is now 16 year old design, so road noise is not going to be great compared newer cars, saying that I have driven brand new VW Golf's and other models for a few weekends and they are not much better in regards to road noise, I think the Accord is fine for its age.

I see that you had a lot of cars, can you compare road noise with E39?
I know that 5 series is a class above Accord, but I am just curious.

I also have Rover 600, with F18A3 engine, and noise is much less than Accord.

With better tyres the road noise is less evident in an E39 but with budget tyres I would say its almost the same.
 
A few days ago I finished my project, and its called dynamat sound deadening.
All doors and trunk area.
The difference is hudge, no more wind and road noise. The car is much more quieter.
 
^ Sounds good man, I'm planning on doing this when I do the door trims, did you lasy them on the roof too? That would probably quiten it even more, although I still want to hear the engine especially in VTEC.
 
No roof mate, only doors and trunk. The best thing will be to put on floor, but its very hard, all interior must be out.

^ Good point, doors should be enough, i dont think the road noise is that bad, just needs a little more dampening.

Do you have a hatch or a saloon? I'm thinking the saloons dont need sound dampening in th eboot as it is isolated from interior, so might give my boot a miss.
 
I bought some 10 pack silent-coat sound deadening, the doors seem a bit awakward due to layout.
