Hi

Air con has decided to give up on me as soon as the sun came out but this is no normal air con re gas issue. This is what is working;

Clutch is good and engaging fine
Relays are ok, no dead fuses
Aircon high pressure side pipes get cold to touch (low pressure side not)
The aircon part that high pressure pipes go into by drivers side strut top in engine bay is cold to the touch when air con switched on and not when off (something is working)
Pollen filter ok
Heater blower and controls all working fine.

This is what isn't working;

Cabin air always luke warm, not hot and not cold regardless of setting.

Aircon service person came out to inspect (i thought it needed gassing) and said 'Air con is fine, there is another issue but i don't know what' helpful i know

Any idea's? it must be something sensor or control related right? Thanks in advance

Blowing warm not hot could be a clogged heater matrix or cabin thermostat.My AC finally stopped working last month although everything seemed to be in order.So as i have a sunroof and rarely used the AC i decided to rip it out.Removed compressor,pipework condensor etc and fitted a short belt.

Hi Kaput, Thanks for the thoughts. I have now confirmed that the heat is working . The controls seem to affect how much air it spits out so would that mean the thermostat in the cabin is working? For example It knows that 17 is lower than outside and that 25 is higher by how much it ramps the fans up when the temp set beyond them. Lo and Hi also turn the system on to max blow.

My advice is to go through online Honda forums and find people reporting a similar problem but not necessarily in a (diesel) accord. Civics, US forums etc. Especially try and find similar age cars, and read what the solutions were.

Yes as above...the solution will be there! Btw i wasn't advising removing your AC lol i just didn't need it so seen no point chasing solutions to fix it.Glad your heat comes through and at the correct temperature so you have ruled out a few things already....good luck.

I’ve got exactly the same problem (high side is cold and low side is warm) but in an 8th Gen. I’m thinking its a clogged/bad expansion valve so that’s my next port of call. Problem is the only place I can get a new expansion valve is Honda and its £150!! So just looking for second hand one at the moment. Also it looks like it’s going to be a pig to get to right at the back of the engine bay.

Anyone else have any input on this?

Whilst the pictures are no more, Freddo/Brian provided a number of walk through goides on how to check the air con on his petrol Mk7 in the following thread

Note that there are differences in the wiring for the diesel/petrol systems.

Do the fans kick in when you press the ac bottom? If not could be a faulty pressure switch
Hi. Yes the fans/blower in the dash does when the button is pressed. Not sure about engine bay, i'll have to check. Cheers

Im also having problems with ac. Gen 8 diesel, had a new compressor. Its got no leaks. But the ac specialist im using has thrown the towel in. Herea the short story..Said high pressure is fine. Low side drops and causing a vacume, in the rubber hose that fits directly to the compressor. Everything engadges when i press ac on. He thinks its a blockage... said he couldnt flush it out because there wasnt a constant cycle...getting abit sick of spending money on the ac to no avail. And cannot find any drawings of info on this specific system, all youtube and other forums seem to be either petrol and american accords

Not much of a specialist if he's thrown in the towel.

Could the low side rubber hose maybe of collapsed inside causing blockage?
That's how it looks from what he and yourself have said and I'm no specialist lol

It takes a few minutes of the aircon to be on before the pipe is sucked closed. Yea, they seem to have that much buisness that they can pick and choose what work they want

Thanks for circling back, glad it’s fixed. Any pics of said item to help guide others?
