Hi,
I've recently had to replace the battery on my car, it was still running the original battery from new!
Things were running fine for a few days, but the red battery light has just come on and stays on whilst driving - it sort of pulsates bright red then low red.
I've got it parked up at home now and after checking all the terminal connections on the battery, it looks like the alternator needs replacing.
After ringing around I've found been quoted on average £370 for parts and labour (including new tensioner belt)....but managed to find somewhere that can recondition the original one with a guarantee for £50
I'm currently reading up on how to remove the alternator as this is something I have never done before. Does anyone have a step by step guide on this? any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've disconnected the negative terminal on the battery to prevent it from draining.
Many thanks in advance
Ash
