Hi,

Just a little background on this problem I'm facing.

When I got my 6th gen Accord the fob didn't work at all, neither did the central locking with the key and I couldn't put control any of the windows except my own, but everyone could control there own windows. I discovered the drivers control unit underneath the power window switches was gone so replaced it and I now have the central locking working with the key and I can control all windows from the drivers side :) but the fob still didn't function.

I changed the battery and it stated working.. great I thought but the locking was hit and miss. I examined the fob circuit board and the locking button was worn out, I tried to repair it but most have broke it due to my terrible soldering as it stopped working completely. So I purchased another fob from eBay. When I tried to pair the fob I wasn't getting the lock/unlock on the 3rd repeat of the pairing process

In the mean time I've changed the stereo to an after market model as the original was Pioneer tape desk with CD Changer in the boot. Not sure if that has a bearing on the problem but thought I would mention it.

I've looked into the Honda ESM and ran the Keyless entry receiver test as per 23-G-19

I'm not getting continuity between terminals 2,3,4 which means an open in the wire. Where should I be going next with this ??

Also I don't know if this is linked but I found this loose wire and 2 other wires spliced together in the passenger fuse box area on my journey :

What pairing instructions are you using?

Hi mate,

I followed these instructions to the word :

Insert the key into the ignition, and hold one remote in your left hand. Whenever the instructions say to press the LOCK button, you should press the lock button on the remote for about a second and then release it.
Perform each of the following three steps in order, then repeat all three steps two more times, for a total of three times each:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, marked II.
2. Press the LOCK button.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the Off position, marked I.

Do this three times!

Next, turn the ignition switch to the ON position (II) for a fourth time.

Press the LOCK button again. The door locks should now make a cycling sound, indicating that the system has entered Programming Mode.

Press the LOCK button one more time to program this remote. If you have other remotes to program, press the LOCK button on each one in turn. The door locks should make the cycling sound after you press LOCK on each remote. You may program up to three remotes, and they must all be programmed within ten seconds of each other.

Turn the ignition off and remove the key. The remotes are now programmed and may be tested.

Those wires shouldn't be like that, someone has been messing around...
About the new remote, I am not sure, but it's possible that it is not compatible with your cars receiver.

I agree skhell someones been been upto something and then wrapped it with insulation tape. I removed to have a peek at the bodge job :)

I'm gonna give the Honda ESM another look over tonight after work to trace the source/destination of those wires.

The fob its exactly the same as the orignal Omron G8D-452H-A so should be a straight swap.

Is it saloon or hatch? If saloon it's possible someone has been trying to splice into the wiring for a boot release.

It's a saloon wookie,

I spoke again with the guy I bought the car from he says the only electric work was spot lights done by Honda.

Damn I forgot to check my fob pairing instructions to compare iwth yours. I'll try and remember today.

Did the old fob work before at any stage? Just to rule out its not the dodgy wiring.

Yeah the old fob did work but no longer does I tried to resolder one of the buttons. I purchased a new fob but the pairing process does work out as planned

I spoke with the Honda Garage today just to see what they would say, they are quoting €50 to diagnose the issue :/

The new fob is definitely the same as the old one? I only ask as there is two types they look identical but the stickers on the back are different. Was it genuine Honda front fogs fitted? If so that is not how the wiring is supposed to be.

Yeah the two fob circuit boards are identical as I checked before purchasing. OMRON G8D-452H-A

Yeah the fogs were installed by Honda so thats one thing off the list.

Keep forgetting to check the pairing, if your old fob worked fine, then I would say those dodgy wiring is not at fault, otherwise that would not have worked either. It's possibly the fob or something not right during the pairing.
