Since the clutch has finally started to slip at 64k  I have been looking into alternatives. Unfortunately CG motorsport are too far from me to be viable and i don't fancy paying Honda £850 just for a clutch.

I have a local mechanic who can fit it relatively cheaply and found this kit on the good ol bay solid flywheel

Firstly, at 64k should I just get a clutch since the dual mass should be ok or should I get it converted so I won't have any more issues for a good few years.

Alternativeyl I could get a dual mass which I think is the correct part number

Hi Chris, would not personally do away with dual mass as it is there to protect your transmission, your choice though. You say you have a mechanic handy who you obviously trust, have you thought of ordering the parts from CG and getting him to fit it! just a thought mate. :D

Depends how much it is to get them to supply I guess. Just looking to see how much a clutch kit on its own is since, I'm hoping, the flywheel is ok.

I think the Honda price of £850 for just the clutch is a rip-off, considering they are still doing it for the civic at £635. In fact, you can get a genuine honda kit for £200 from http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/2003-2008-accord-clutch-kits-c-14_35_781.html?zenid=118d07a941f3d0f7e12b25462b1b1752. Thats leaving £650 for a days labour!! See how much your dealer will charge for a days labour then supply the clutch kit yourself. You can also get a LuK flywheel from that company for not bad money. But at those miles it should be ok.

Why not contact CG and ask if they will do a kit only for you. I test drove a members car the other night when tuning it and he had a Single Mass setup and it felt ok...

eurocarparts currently have 25% off so a clutch kit would only cost £132 from them, why does it have to be such a pain in the *** to fit...

Grrr looked again on eurocarparts and the 25% discount doesn't apply to clutches :(

Have fired off an email to cg motorsport

Or I could get a 2 year warranty from warranty wise for £589......

Just take the trip to Leeds mate, pay the money and have it done once and done right. Peace of mind forever after that. I'm yet to hear of one of their paddle clutches failing. I have a Civic coming later. The guy's come down from Scotland to CG, once they've done the clutch he's bringing to me to bring it to life ;)

Includes new DMF and fitting at £925. Bargain.

It would be very interesting for someone to fit the single mass flywheel (SMF) to see if there is a noticeable increase in vibration through pick up. Notably a comparison between the juddering experienced by members from having the CG paddle clutch fitted and the increased vibration from the single mass clutch through not having the damping effects of the DMF.

Would the SMF and a strong enough standard clutch offer a more user friendly driving experience than a DMF and a paddle clutch on a standard or stage 1 map???

I think the difference will be negligible compared to the benefits of a solid flywheel, many vw, ford and transit drivers do them. But the accord is alot smoother than most diesels, I would definately consider it if after lots of power.

Well CG motorsport have just confirmed its £900 to supply and fit and that includes a gearbox oil change. Sounds a much better option than £850 for just the clutch at Honda

Its the paddle clutch so I guess uprated DMF too, I wonder how many people on here are in need of a clutch. I wonder if they would be interested in a group by offer to recude the cost, although Im not sure if they would be keen on this since its a 6 hour job

I'm sure I remember Andy saying he tried but at that price they had no movement, prob with group buy is its unlikely you get 5+ people's cars to break at the same time.
Its a good price I would be very happy with that, and I believe the dmf is uprated too.

Interesting reading.

I drove a MK4 Golf with SMF and it was loud at standstill.

Sounded as if it was broken, but the PD engine is rough loud but torquey.

Any updates on the SMF and paddle clutch now looking at a remap in the new year but want to know what root to take if the Oem clutch fails....

Mine is a daily town driver so don't want anything heavy or likely to be uncomfortable to drive....

...You might not want a paddle clutch then!

Quite a lot of info on the Civinfo forum (same clutch as ours). Very experienced and knowledgeable member Relic has been detailing his SMF/kevlar (not paddle) experiences here... http://www.civinfo.com/forum/cg-motorsport/87311-smf-kevlar.html (but no recent updates)

CG Motorsport are a commercial affiliate of Civinfo, all CG sub-forum threads here... http://www.civinfo.com/forum/cg-motorsport/ but some pricing there is dependent upon Civino membership

Thanks buddy...the Civic boys seem far from sorted re this issue, from what I see you can buy a clutch that will take the torque but might not last or one that lasts as long as the Map is Oem ...

Waiting on some advice from CPL re the Clutchmasters options....

Bit confused by it all tbh
