Hello all,
I've been reading your brilliant forum for ages now, and am sad in a way to post something, but my car let me down 2 weeks ago...I wonder if anybody can help me.
I've got a 57 plate Accord Tourer CTDI 2.2.
Just had a full 120k service and exhaust manifold replacement done at Holden Honda in Norfolk.
Within 200 miles I was got an engine management light (the first time ever in 127 000 miles) so pulled over to get it read - the 2 codes read: fuel pressure too high, and pressure too low.
Got the codes removed, and car drove perfectly (no dip in performance at all) though it did not want to start when I picked it up from the dealer.
Tentatively I kept driving it, but 2 days later the car wouldn't start (trying a warm restart after about 70 miles).
The management lights came back on and it just wouldn't fire.
I happened to be stuck in a charge by minute car park at Bristol airport (otherwise I'd have waited for the AA).
Instead as the engine seemed to be spluttering I hand primed using the diesel pump. After a little while I got it to splutter into life, but it kept dying again.
Having eventually gotten it to turn over - keeping my foot virtually to the floor I crawled to the nearest dealer I could (Bristol) where the car is still sitting.
With the throttle fully open the car was making 2000 RPM's occasionally responding normally i.e. up to 5k 6k, but then returning to 2000 RPM's. Almost electrically controlled.
I'd like to know if it's possible that when the manifold was replaced, could the work have damaged the fuel injection system?
(specifically I've read about turbo removals http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/17940-diy-replace-badcracked-manifold-on-22-i-ctdi-accord-2007/ )
I've checked the last 3 garages I used to fuel up at. No reports of swarf or diluted diesel and they were Texaco and BP stations.
Obviously the fuel system is majorly expensive (2248) with labor quoted at bristol. I've read the thread about BG 244, but I fear my pump maybe shot already.
I welcome your thoughts, and thanks again for this amazing resource.
P.S. This is my 5th accord, but the first diesel. The last petrol accord I had made it 280 000 and was still running when I sold it.
