Hi guys,

2004 CDTI developed an occasional issue when starting....engine revs climb to around 1500 then drop and slowly pick up again, rev the engine a few times and seems ok....just a bit annoying tbh.

May be similar issue to the pinned intermittent accelerator issue.

Dropping into my friendly tech tomorrow but any things to check first?

Won't be the EGR in this case :)

Many thanks

Simon

hi Simon, I think i remember you cleaned your inlet manifold out when the EGR was deleted? It could be a sticking intake manifold flap..

Yes, all cleaned.... Would that show an error code? Cheers Simon

It would but only if it was completely stuck in the open or closed position. It may be partially sticking

Unfortunately, no codes came up with the Snapon Machine....so still none the wiser...the intake manifold flap seems to open and close freely enough....so not sure what to do next? Any thoughts guys?

You might need to wait till it gets worse and throws up an error simon..

Could be anything from a sticking accelerator pedal cable/sensor, weak MAF sensor or a bad injector..
