Just took me near 4 hours to get home from work on what should have been a 30 minute journey. Had to swerve to avoid a flump in the middle of the road on a bendy country lane. There just so happened to be some curb stones on this patch of road. Wheel clipped it, instant blow-out. Do I have a spare tyre, maybe a space saver in the boot? No  ! Oh, but I do have a can of inflating foam stuff, maybe that will plug the 2 inch hole in the side wall of my tyre <_< .
Anyway, had almost no network coverage, when I get through to RAC they tell me my membership's expired, which it hadn't. I get membership through my insurer. So I have to phone my insurance, I keep getting bounced between insurance and RAC, the whole time my phone keeps cutting out because of bad reception. It took an hour to finally get confirmation that a truck was on its way. 45 minutes for the truck to turn up, then get towed and left on a garage forecourt to get sorted in the morning, then he dropped me home which was nice. Left work at 4.30, got home (a total distance of 8 miles away) at 8.30.
The moral of the story: Don't be without a spare wheel. I know what I'm asking Santa for this Christmas.
