Bought a new second hand accord, did service including fuel filter now it wont boost properly...Honda reliability is a joke!!! anyone want to buy it. £750 cash.

Welcome to TA. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.

If you're interested in fixing it there are plenty of helpful and knowledgable members here. If you're just looking to flog it, pop it on eBay.

Hi Richard,

I've dropped you a PM.

Cheers,
Josh

I'd like to repair it but after 5 hrs today going through everything I'm tired and deeply annoyed...I've done hundreds of fuel filters before and, this is the first time I've had this. Changed all vacuum hoses for silicone ones thinking I may have split one. Cleaned get and,12v tested it, cleaned inlet swirl valve, cleaned, maf sensor and map sensor. Checked all diesel pipes incase I dislodged something....disconnect maf induces limp mode so maf working same with map. By pass boost solenoid loss of top boost. Currently the car is flat up until 3500 rpm before turbo kicks in...even then it's nothing special. No smoke, no problem starting, no engine light...I'm at a loss....

Try temporarily blanking your egr

Is it a genuine fuel filter that you fitted?

Im not joking saying this could be the problem.. the honda is very picky with filters

Can't see why that would help when her is working fine with right tolerance voltage across the range and full,movement...

Yeah genuine filter...removed generic one that was on car....might drain it and,put it,back on...

Hi Josh, if I don't get it sorted, before I take a sledge hammer to it then you can have a deal on it....should have stuck to Alfa,s....least I know them and they are actually reliable...

Iv had 2 Accords now 1st one was 7th gen diesel and now present 8th gen K24.
Both cars very reliable so perhaps you brought a lemon

I'm not arguing Honda patrols aren't reliable, they are. But the diesels I,fear have a way to,go yet...like Alfa, patrols dodgey bit diesels incredible.

Bloody spell check on these phones!!!! That's it, I'm buying an old wind up phone and a Capri...can't go wrong then ha.

Alfa diesels are reliable...interior falls apart but engine goes well. Anyway, does anyone know the amount of travel on turbo actuator and also average readings across map and mad sensor...

Was the car running absolutely fine before you replaced the fuel filter?

It is quite possible that you have damaged the turbo actuator (EVR) ***embly while changing the fuel filter... it might be a good idea to carefully check all the hoses and the filter ***ociated with that part. Is the boost link rod moving at all?

Did you remove the engine top cover while replacing the fuel filter? Hopefully not, as there are lots of delicate things that a c**p mechanic could damage.

Fairly fine, felt like it needed a good service. But yes, it drove fine. Turbo actuator arm when tested moves when vacuum tester applied. I've been leaning, towards map sensor and or boost solenoid.

Yes I removed engine cover and no I didn't break anything or am I a crap mechanic, just all the usual tests are drawing a blank and thought there might be someone in the know on this site.

If you're saying you have no diagnotic errors then I'm afraid we are in the dark also.

That's what's throwing me...no lights, no codes. Starts fine, files fine, revs on spot fine...driving is totally flat, foot to the floor in first and it just gently increases speed...same in all gears till around 3000 rpm...

I really don't see why either the MAP sensor or the boost solenoid should coincidentally fail while you replaced the fuel filter. It honestly seems more likely that you've damaged/dislodged a pipe or connector on an actuator or sensor. There are quite a few options and actually quite exposed if you did remove the top cover.... even if you didn't remove the top cover it is still possible to damage/disturb some of the actuators beneath by applying too much pressure from above.

I've replaced all vacuum pipes thinking there might be a split. Does the tips fire a light or fault code on these things.

It drove fine before the fuel filter change and post change it is not running right. I'm thinking go back to that fuel filter and check everything. I will say this, it has to be a genuine honda fuel filter no matter what

If you have changed vacuum hoses have you put them back in the correct position?
There are a couple of sensors on the top of the engine which could be easily damaged by leaning on them, one near the front and one further back near the fuel filter

Told you try blanking egr

Filter I took off the car was a pattern part, put genuine filter on. Pipes replaced in order one at a time. No damage was done to sosolenoids. I'm thinking as you said, go back to the filter, something isn't right, it's air or fuel starvation somewhere...

I will obtain a blanking plate and block egr off...won't it throw the light on and run like a dog though...

It's just to eliminate it. Right now a light would be good as it would tell you it's working!

From my own tests with an egr blanking plate it will only throw a code if you leave it idling. If you just drive it, it will be fine.
