Can anyone recommend a brake rewind tool..I am led to believe there are different types...I need one asap to get the brakes done over the next weekend

Thanks

I got a laser tools one, have a look at http://www.lasertools.co.uk/tools.aspx?cat=518 but I aint sure which one you need I got mine to do my Civic rear pads when I had it. Halfords sell Laser Tools but I got mine through a local motor factors and they knew which one I needed.

I bought one from ebay, a complete kit with various attachments - I think it was about £50 which is not bad as you can cover most cars.

no thats no good simon its a left handed threaded one

for some strange reason some Mondeos (and some other cars no doubt) have one caliper that needs a right hand tool and one caliper that needs a left hand tool

right So i want a right threaded one  ??

I really dont want to buy a set with 18pcs for example .....just one to do the job

I hate to give them free advertisement but the one in halfords (lasertool?) is the one you need.

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_214227_langId_-1_categoryId_165469

Don't remember paying that for it though.

Agree I got the halfords one as well, does the job altho that price is more than I paid IIRC.

Agreed with Monks here. I got the Halfords lasertool around 2 years ago and has worked for every car I have needed to do. However I paid less than half of that two years ago.

Like I said earlier Laser Tools but from a local motor factors will be alot cheaper than Halfords.

I will scout around my local motor factors and see if I can find one.

Which way does it rewind clockwise/anti clockwise??

ta

You rewind it to where it moves.
The brake should be off, of course, otherwise you wouldn't be able to remove the caliper/pads. ;)

Thanks.....I've done that but still cant get the caliper over the pads :(
I'm struggling quite a bit I fitted lots of brakes in the past but these are swines

Yes, it takes some effort and patience to fit the caliper. Did you opened the brake fluid cover?
