Hi guys,

Is it possible to light up the digital clock on your dash?
Its fine during daytime, but once its dark...you cann't see ******** all.
Dont know if it is like this on all Accords, or perhaps the fuse/bulb has gone on mine.

Let me know what you peeps think

What Accord do you have? What year?

The clock in the centre console yeah? Underneath the cd holder thong. It can be changed. I bought my car without it working and hadn't changed it lol.

Iirc you have to remove the gearstick gator then remove the cd holder bit then the bulb is there. Either that or remove the hu and go down.

I got a new HU, so i'm planning on doing it all at once.
Just one question, i've been looking at how to remove the HU, and it looks like i have to remove the whole front panel.
Is there an easier way or the hard way.
Looks a bit complicated, too many parts to remove/break yiikes

Any advice?

Unfortunately you have to remove the whole lot I think. Start with the gear stick gator.

Fakin'ell
managed to get to the clock, and take it out...those damn switches just wont come out.
Now i'm working on getting the stereo out...its gonna be a long night.
Not sure how to pull the old radio out with the a/c on.

I thought the stereo just needs some release keys and it pops straight out. A few years since I took one out of a 6th gen but pretty sure that's all there was to it. I certainly don't remember taking the dash apart.

Lol
Dash fascia is off
Cant pull out the stereo as the a/c cables are holding it

Looked on the forum in radio removal, and it says in pictures to remove all this bits n bobs, but no info on how to separate the radio from a/c and yank the ****** out

7th gen needs half the dash removing but 6th gen is a normal single din head unit isn't it? Why is the aircon getting in the way?

Yes it is a single din
Aircon is on the same "box/cage" as the radio. They are one next to the other.

This is a sample picture:

Cant see any screws that are fixed on the radio and the cage. Perhaps i need to get some removal tools from halfords??

If that's a typical picture look at the little slots at the left and right hand edge of the stereo. Insert the removal keys in there and the stereo will unlock and slide out.

removal key it is
wish i knew this earlier, i've been dismantling the car in the night with a torch and gloves. suprised police didnt stop by

I'll pop over to halfrauds 2moro and start again

Dont suppose anyone knows how much and where i can get the bulb for the behind the digital clock??

No idea on the clock but the stereo will be out in two minutes with the right keys lol.
Sometimes a slim screwdriver or similar will release it if you really want it out tonight.
The police probably knew a proper thief would have had it out by now

bro
i used slim screwdrivers, went through 2 sets of knives
in the end it was too cold...so i packed it in
It is my 1st stereo change..cmon
dont tell me u had it out in 1st go :p

Once you've removed a stereo once it gets much easier as you understand how they are held in place.
Usually they have clips on the side that spring out to look them in place. So you insert the tool in the side then lever it slightly while pulling on the stereo. Try just one side at a time. Once it releases it will move forward slightly and then you can release the other side.
A bit cold for it tonight though, it was snowing here earlier

It's threads like this one that makes me soooo stupidly happy that both my accords came with an aftermarket hu already fitted lol.

just a quiick update
finally chnaged over the stereo...woohooo
got a new bulb for the behind the digi clock, which i will be fitting 2moz.

Many thanks guys for all your advice and laughter...

Glad you got there in the end. I bet you could do it loads faster next time

Hey, i'm a pro now
if anyone needs their radio changing over, i could do it in well under 30min B)

Oh yeah...the bulb for the behind the clock was not the perfect match, but after a few cuttings it was a good fit. And that beautiful orange colour radiating from the clock is just awesome

Next project will be speakers ;)
