Hi

I think my turbo is not working as it should do and have been reading about some stuf called Turbo cleaner (would you believe) from Innotec Supplies Ltd. Is there a better alternative?

Firstly does anyone know if this stuff does the job and secondly is it safe to use.
Secondly could it eventually end up ---edited by monks--- the seals up.

Any help appreciated
Regards

never heard of the stuff what makes you think your turbos not working? if the turbos blown and not working all the cleaning in the worlds not going to make it any better

Agree with Paul, whats making you think the turbo is not working??

Yup agreed, and are you talking about removing the turbo from the car and physically cleaning it or introducing something into the oil?

Hi Guys

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I did not say that it was not wroking but that I thought that it was not working properly.

In first gear whilst going along and when I apply very very light throtle from start the engine seems to not respond. I don't think that it is developing the power it should do and is not as responsive as I remembered. I have doen 82 K .

Have a look at this site for info on the Turbo cleaning kit. They say the turbo can be cleaned in situe.

I think that it is worth trying but as I said before, I don't want to if it is useless and going to damage any seals etc. thats why my original question to see if anyone has used it.

That might not be the turbo to be honest mate. These cars have a VNT and are electronically controlled by the ECU so a hesitation is likely to be down to something else in my opinion, maybe a fuel or air filter... or possibly EGR valve. Have you eliminated those items first?

Hi F6HAD

Well I'v always replaced the air filter when necessary and it is ok at the moment. I replaced the fuel filter about 5K ago

I would look at the EGR ***embly but it seems to me that it is going to be an all day afair and I need to find the time for it.

I have always used quality fuel and indeed from time to time used Diesel adative as well so I would like to think that the EGR ***embly was OK.

I still get betwee 44 and 47 MPG and the problem is not great but I just think that the engine could be better. I will say that it doesn't tick over as smoothly as it did. Not bad but not as good.

Anyway, what's a VNT.

Regards

It wont be the turbo then as that wont be working at low revs and light throttle. You say the fuel filter was changed 5k ago was that an OE filter? these cars seem very fussy with fuel filters the other thing to think about is the exhaust manifold they are know to crack on diesels maybe worth getting that checked

Was going to say exactly the same thing. Was it a genuine Honda fuel filter or aftermarket, and did the car exhibit these problems before the filter change or just after?

It might be the same as this have a look at the link below.

After being driven gently for a while, mine tends to "waft" along quite nicely, but if I am pressed into flooring the throttle for an overtake I get black smoke and an immediate boost of power. Following this we are back in business, I think some one on here called it an Italian overhaul, whatever it sure works. Make sure you are up to temprature first.
