i am new to this guys. my name is zoran and i am from solihull.i love my accord and would like to find out what it is before something goes wrong.thank you!

thanks brett. i already had a look but the problem is i have had same model before and it wasnt this type of noise.i am thinking vacuum leak or exhaust leak.

As i said have a look at the link but i would 99 % say this is a completely sound and sounds even better with a remap from Fahad ;)

Are you getting any fumes in the car.could you do us a faver and start this topic up in 7th gen diesel faults to keep this in the right section cheers.

without hearing the whistle it is going to be difficult to diagnose. as for the smell. it sounds like you need to have your aircon system cleaned. you can get bacteria in it and a special detergent can clean and disinfect the system making it smell fresh again. the good news is that it is not expensive. you have changed the pollen filter which would have been my first suspect so a good system clean would be my next suggestion.

also as Brett has suggested. the diesels do sometimes suffer from a cracked manifold which leaks fumes in to the cabin. this fault is covered under Hondas extended warranty so would be a free fix from the dealer if it is your manifold.

As Neil said about the smell.Just a hunch but have you checked for damp carpets in the front footwels if not have a look as this will eliminate the heater matrix.

hi!
thanks for advice.i did have air conditioning system cleaned, there is no fumes in the car.i did have a look at your link brett and there is one describing exact symptoms like mine.cold engine whining 1500 to 2000 revs.it look like is turbo.i suppose i will have to change it soon.do you guys know or reccomend somebody good for turbo change.thanks for your help!

Cheers Brett

Topics merged.

Sounds like you might have a cracked manifold (explains the smell) and a cracked manifold will probably also make your turbo a little louder if its not building the right pressure and leaking gasses..

What mileage is the car on?

I'm actually in Birmingham tonight, not far from Solihull, if I have the time I could have a quick listen.

hi!
F6HAD you might be rigt about manifold.is there any way to confirm, test it that is 100% that.if i understood well that is covered by honda extended warrantycar has got 76000 miles.thanks for response!

pop your head under the bonnet left hand side right at the back of the engine bay.If its gone you should smell fumes and also you might see the black soot marks where its leaking.

thanks brett. friend of mine who is mechanic just had a look and he cant smell nothing but he said noise is definitely coming from back of the engine.he is gonna lift it on the ramp after work on monday afternoon and try to work it out what it is.he thinks it could be any of the gaskets there,or something is lose.will update on monday night.thanks

You don't need a mechanic to smell it. If you can smell fumes in the engine bay then it's cracked, simple as that.. If your car is less than 7 years old and less than 125k miles - then it's free of charge to have it repaired.

thanks F6HAD. as i said previously i cant smell nothing neither can he.it might not be that,i dont know.my mate says something definitely not right there and it shouldnt sound like that so he will try and work it out what it is.

hello!
just a quick update.my mate couldnt look at the car today as he was too busy.scheduled again for saturday.i couldnt start the car today for few minutes and CHECK SYSTEM came on for few seconds and than again few times during the day but doesnt stay on though.like i said i love my accord but i think bmw 3 series will be my next buy.

A BMW :p the choice is yours but i hate them with a passion especially the drivers

you must have met my last neighbour then

zoran, 3 series bm's suck monkey plums. let's see what the problems are before you join the numpty set?

this honda has already cost me over 2000 grand in repairs in last seven months i had it.i would like to stick with honda but not at this rate.my mate have bmw 3 series on 02 plate since new.never had any problems with it,thats the only reason i am thinking about beemer.

my last car was a 52 plate 3 series. It was CRAP, Tiny compared to the Accord. RUSTED. Check the arches for rust and the boot around the number plate holder(unacceptable on a 8 yr old car and a common problem). Mega expensive to service and repair, The E46 has a love affair with ball joints and is hugely over rated.
Please take a look at bimmerforums and see for yourself. The E46 is far from reliable and is essentially a 14yr old design.
The post 2001 facelift ones are slightly better and no longer suffer from the chassis fatigue where the body separates from the car costing 4k to repair. Then you have the heater matrix going pop, Not to mention a sound system sounds like a cheap pair of headphones.

Please don't make the same mistake i did and get caught up with the BMW hype. It was without doubt the most disappointing car i have ever owned. It was SE spec as well and it was pretty spartan compared to my executive.

I honestly rate my old Mondeo mk3 better than that piece of s****.

Out of interest what have you paid out 2k for if you don't mind me asking. That is an awful lot of money. What belt and pulleys did you have changed and why.

Zoran, what's cost you £2k in repairs mate? Frankly I'd also be peeved if I had to spend that much repairing my car...

2K  in 7 months that's a lot but as Fahad said please explain.

well.first of all i went to dealer for this whistling noise, they couldnt find nothing charged me half hour labour 55£.second time went for same thing, again nothing 55£.third time went to honda specialist performance autoworks in cirencester who said it needed belt changing plus a/c cleaning, pollen filter air filter 238£.than i noticed that brand new belt they fitted is shreding like mad so i rang them up and thay said bring it down but you will have to pay again for new belt etc.i decided to take it to my local honda dealer who found out that actually a/c compressor seized.for new compressor, belt, gas and labour 1460£.and some other bits and bobs that i wanted done.anyway 1800£ all together.

That's harsh man - and very unlucky...

Sounds like the first couple of places raped you big time. However, if you took it to Honda they should surely deal with the smell under the warranty for the previous work (***uming it is AC related of course).

Classic case of being ripped off I'm afraid, not the cars fault.

You took it to Honda twice complaining of a whistling noise and they found nothing wrong with it. You're still complaining but as far as I can tell, your car is behaving normally.

The so called specialist you took it to unnecessarily tried to clean your AC compressor and has obviously knackered it in the process of either cleaning it or fitting the belt.

Sorry but none of this is the cars fault as in the course of that £2k spending spree, there was nothing wrong with the car and nothing actually got fixed...
